HAMPTON COMMISSION ON THE ARTS MEETING MINUTES February 1, 2018 Attending Present: Jim Dees, Nancy Eason, Linda Burke, Linda Curtis, Jackie Merritt, Rick Allison, Tom Cagley, Richard Parison, Catherine Hagner Called to Order Chair, Ms. Eason called the meeting to order@ 4:05 pm. Reading/Approval of Minutes The minutes from the November Meeting were approved. Chair Report/ School Projects Report Ms. Eason reported that all schools awarded grants have received their monies and have begun work on their projects. Hampton Arts Report Artistic Director Richard M. Parison, Jr., gave a report on the activities at The American Theatre and The Charles H. Taylor Arts Center. New Business Continued discussion was held on the programming and operations at the Center for the Performing Arts currently run by the Parks and Recreation department and the Hampton Arts Commission. Ms. Burke made a motion that the Commission strongly recommend to City Council that the CPAC programming, staff, and possibly venue be merged into the Hampton Arts Department. Mr. Dees seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. Next Meeting Our next scheduled meeting is March 1, 2018. It will be held at in the American Theatre Lecture Hall. Adjourn There being no further business before the Commission, Mr. Allison moved to adjourn, Ms. Curtis seconded. The meeting was unanimously adjourned at 4:54 PM.
