HAMPTON COMMISSION ON THE ARTS MEETING MINUTES February 7, 2019 Attending Present: Nancy Eason, Iris Goode-Middleton, Thomas Cagley, Aiya Williams, Derrick Brooks, Eleanor Brown, Brian Deprofio, Terri Vander Vennet, Richard Parison,Catherine Hagner Called to Order Ms. Eason called the meeting to order@ 4:22PM. Reading/Approval of Minutes The minutes from the November Meeting were approved. Artistic Director’s Report Artistic Director Richard M. Parison, Jr., gave a report on the activities at The American Theatre and The Charles Taylor Visual Arts Center. This included an introduction to the collaborative Hampton Arts/ Hampton Arts Foundation program, “ArtWorks” which puts Master Teaching Artists in Hampton City Schools at no cost to the school district. The commission agreed that this was an exciting and important project. School Arts Grants Report Funds for FY Grants have been distributed and projects are underway. Discussion about whether to visit schools at the completion of the projects or have the teachers make a presentation to the Commission. Ms. Eason said she would speak to each of the teachers about which option would be most appropriate. Next Meeting Our next scheduled meeting will be on March 7th at 4:15pm. It will be held at the American Theatre. Adjourn There being no further business before the Commission, Ms. Eason moved to adjourn, Ms. Brown seconded. The meeting was unanimously adjourned at 4:47 PM.
