HAMPTON COMMISSION ON THE ARTS MEETING FEBRUARY 6, 2020 No official votes were conducted. Attending Present: Linda Curtis; Nancy Eason; Aiya Williams; Richard Parison; Jessica Stepp Wyatt Called to Order Nancy Eason, Chair opened discussion at 4:23 PM Chair’s Report – Nancy Eason • 2019-2020 School Grant Applications o Recipient PowerPoint presentations will occur at either the June 2020 or October 2020 meeting o Commission members will be invited to view completed projects at each school, but commissioners are not required to visit. o Suggestions for next year:  Add extra language regarding expectations (reporting, project type) to the application. For example, add wording that a brief project update will be requested in early spring.  Look into the possibility of using one W-9 for all schools – possibly the entire school system shares an EIN Artistic Director’s Report – Richard M. Parison, Jr. • Hampton Arts Activities o Spring HomeSchool: The program is underway with 30 students enrolled. o SummerStage: The program will start June 2020, advertising will begin in March. • Please visit the mural at the River Pointe Kroger. It is installed in one of the entryways. • If you have ideas for new Commission members, please encourage them to apply. Other Business Richard Ward has been hired to work on a 3D art project at the North Phoebus Community Center. As more information becomes available, it will be shared with the Commission. Next Meeting Our next scheduled meeting will be April 2, 2020 at 4:15pm. It will be held at the American Theatre. Adjourn The informal discussion ended at 4:48pm. 1
