Hampton Electoral Board Meeting May 7, 2025 10:00 a.m., Registrar’s Office Present: Tom Harmon, Tara Morgan, Rebecca Winn, Matt Scott Meeting was called to order at 10:07 a.m. April minutes were read and amended – there was one immaterial change. Minutes were approved as amended. Public comments were made - the first was a question about curbside voting and campaigners - Tom Moran asked who was able to enter the precinct and use the rest room. - Jim Avery asked if comments could be made based on issues coming before the board, in real time. Volunteer Recognition – on-going School Board issues – Letter will be sent to School Board to request schools be closed or virtual on all Election Days. - ADA needs. We will again do ADA evaluation sheets on Primary Day. Motion was made for us to go back to our original precincts to supervise during this year’s elections after rotating each election last year. In future years the assignments will rotate by year. Motion seconded and passed. Tom made the comment that the Board has been aggressive in pursuing ADA improvements. Curbside voting and campaigners: some localities put a “sign” on the car used for curbside voting, that says “Voting in Session.” This indicates to campaigners that they cannot approach that car. A motion was made and seconded to have O.E.s responsible for curbside voting ask voter if they want campaign literature, and secure it for them. Motion passed. This will be revisited prior to the November election. Training: O.E. training will be 6/4 and 6/7. Chief /Assistant Chief training will be on 6/11. More training may be required. Provisional Officer training will be given as needed. There have been about 5000 Absentee ballots have been mailed so far for the Primary. Electoral Board Meeting, May 7, 2025, Page 2 There is NO Republican Primary this year. November Election: Close of books will now be 11 days before Election Day. So approx. October 24 will be the last day to register (other than Same Day Registration) for the November election. Saturday voting will be 10/25 and 11/1. Sunday voting is yet to be determined. We are assured that the HU Homecoming parade route will be different this year. We will continue to pursue the latest and most accurate information on this. Meeting was at ease at 11:06 a.m. Meeting reconvened at 11:13 a.m. Security Training for Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs: Uncertain as budget money may not be available for this. Motion was made properly to go into closed session. Subjects to be addressed: personnel, computer software, and security. Seconded and passed. Closed session began at 11:19 a.m. Motion was made to move back into Open Session. Motion was made to certify that the Board only addressed matters related to personnel, computer software, and security matters as approved prior to closed session.
