Hampton Coliseum Citizens Advisory Committee Meeting – March 27, 2018

Call to Order/Reading and Approval of Minutes:
At 12:08 p.m., Chair Boester called the meeting to order.
Motion made by Mr. Newman to approve the minutes of the February 27, 2018 meeting. Mr. Perry seconded. The
motion passed.
Chair Report/Announcement:
Chair Boester stated the committee is now going into a closed meeting pursuant to Virginia Code Section 2.2-
3711(A)(7) for consultation with legal counsel pertaining to actual or probably litigation, where such consultation
or briefing in open meeting would adversely affect the negotiating or litigating posture of the public body. A
motion of approval was made by Ms. Hutton and seconded by Mr. Perry. A roll call vote of unanimous consent
was given. Doors were closed and closed meeting sign posted. Closed session conducted.
Ms. Vander Vennet stated it is now appropriate to take a roll call vote and that to the best of our knowledge (i)
only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements under this chapter, and (ii) only
such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Closed Meeting was convened were
heard, discussed, or considered in the Closed Meeting. Any member who believes there was a departure from
the requirements of subdivisions (i) and (ii) shall so state prior to the roll call cote, indicating the substance of the
departure that, in his/her judgement has taken place. Such statements shall be recorded in the minutes. No
statements were made. Motion was made by Ms. Hutton and seconded by Mr. Brown. A roll call vote was
conducted and unanimous consent was given. Doors were opened and closed meeting sign removed.
Director’s Report:
Ms. Vander Vennet shared the event statistics for February. February ’18 had 5 event days, 4 performances
and 23,075 attendees. Events were Equipovision with 3 performances and A Valentine’s Weekend Affair
featuring KEM with 1 performance.
Upcoming Events: PBR March 3 – 1 performance with 5,185 in attendance, Hampton Spring Jam March 17 – 1
performance with 4,460 in attendance, and Kevin Hart March 30 – 1 performance with 9,490 sold. April Events:
Commitment to Graduate – Hampton City Schools April 16, 2018.
Ms. Vander Vennet gave an update on the financial status for period ending February 28, 2018.
Other Business:
Tom Harlan, Coliseum Senior Production Manager, gave an overview of his job responsibilities at the Coliseum.

Meeting was adjourned at 1:00 p.m.
Next Meeting:
Next Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at 12 noon at the Embassy Suites.
