Motion was made by Mr. Newman to approve the Minutes from the February 25, 2020 meeting. Ms.
Rutherford seconded and the motion passed.
Chair Report/Announcements:
Chair Boester welcomed Peter O’Donnell, Assistant Director Operations & Events. Introductions were
made all around. Chair Boester shared he had spoken with Dr. Woods about the Hampton Graduation
activities and that she was very complimentary to Peter & staff and was impressed how staff had even
watered their plants. A discussion was held about the creative way the schools had set up mock stages
on the plaza to allow graduates to ‘walk’ across the stage and have their photos taken while receiving
their diplomas with the families in attendance. It was a very cool and well run event.
Director’s Report:
Ms. Vander Vennet gave an overview of the financial impact the pandemic has had on the Coliseum
with the cancellation and rescheduling of 14 events from March 12 – June 26, 2020. Information was
provided on the Mayor’s Cup Blood Drive scheduled for June 23 – 24 and the creation of a drive-in
movie event to be held in the employee parking lot on weekends during July and August.
Ms. Vander Vennet reviewed the status of the Chiller Installation and Sider Riser Replacement projects.
A discussion was held on the current implications of the pandemic on the entertainment industry,
operational changes that would be implemented and new equipment that would have to be purchased to
create a touchless guest experience.
Chair Boester pointed out that chairs had been setup on the arena floor by staff to replicate the floor
setup with social distancing and discussed the impact it will have on capacity.
Other Business:
Upcoming 12/31/20 term expirations: Samantha Snead, 1st term - eligible for reappointment; Woody
Newman and Ryan Lowrie, 2nd term – not eligible for reappointment. Chair Boester asked members to
think about recommendations to fill the upcoming vacancies and reminded members that candidates
would need to submit an application online to the board bank.

recognition of the 50th Anniversary.
