Hampton Coliseum Citizens Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes – October 27, 2020 Attending: (A) = absent Bob Boester ( ) Willie Brown (A) Asa Jenrette (A) Matt Joyner ( ) Ryan Lowrie ( ) Woody Newman ( ) Anne Rutherford ( ) Samantha Snead (A) Andrew Wilson (A) Terri Vander Vennet ( ) Peter O’Donnell ( ) Benjamin Naidorf (A) Call to Order/Reading and Approval of Minutes: At 12:08 p.m., Chair Boester called the meeting to order. Motion was made by Mr. Lowrie to approve the Minutes from the September 22, 2020 meeting. Ms. Rutherford seconded and the motion passed. Chair Report/Announcements: Chair Boester welcomed everyone and reported on the Mayor’s Proclamation in Celebration of Hampton Coliseum’s 50th Anniversary, which was read and presented to Chair Boester and Coliseum staff at the September 23, 2020 City Council meeting. The proclamation present for members to view. Chair Boester also stated that the Letter of Recommendation for January 1, 2021 committee member vacancies had been sent to Council members for their consideration. Director’s Report: Ms. Vander Vennet reported on the status of the events scheduled through March 31, 2021 and the committee discussed the impacts the pandemic was having on live entertainment and the potential of further cancellations and rescheduling of events. Ms. Vander Vennet explained the new Clear Bag Policy that will be implemented and the need for this policy in light of the changes to a touch-less security process. She also gave an update on equipment being purchased through CARES Fund grant money. Other Business: Members discussed experiences they have had with outdoor live events and the numerous drive-in style concerts that are occurring. New Business: Ms. Vander Vennet relayed that the City would be changing committee member terms to 4-years. The 4- year term will apply retroactively to appointments starting January 1, 2020.
