Hampton Coliseum Citizens Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes – January 24, 2023 Attending: Woody Newman, Chair Linda Curtis Lynne Hutton Asa Jenrette Matt Joyner Joyce Melvin-Jones Ryan Lowrie Andrew Wilson Bob Boester, Emeritus Terri Vander Vennet, Director Absent: Visitors: No visitors in attendance. Samantha Snead, Vice-Chair Ben Naidorf, Legal Call to Order and Approval of Minutes: The meeting was called to order at 12:00 P.M. A motion was made by Mr. Lowrie to approve the November 22, 2022 meeting minutes. The motion was seconded by Mr. Wilson and passed unanimously. Chair Report: Committee welcomed new committee appointee Linda Curtis and returning appointees, Lynne Hutton and Joyce Melvin-Jones. Chairman Newman reviewed the committee meeting structure for new members and commended and thanked the Coliseum staff for the December 8, 2022 Holiday Party. Director Report: For the benefit of new members, Ms. Vander Vennet provided a quick review of the dressing room renovation project and gave members an update on current CIP projects. Other Business: New Business: The committee discussed the Professional Box Lacrosse League’s opening season game held January 6, 2022. Many members assisted in distributing a large number of tickets for the game and offered to assist again if the opportunity was available. Members provided recommendations for future games, including merchandise stand offering credit card payment option, offering a lower priced child’s ticket, ½ time patron shot contest, and digital play bills to provide bios on players and explain the rules of the game. It was brought up that several sponsors wanting to support the team, had not been contacted by PBLA. Ms. Vander Vennet will pass all input along to the league.
