Hampton Coliseum Citizens Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes – March 28, 2023 Attending: Woody Newman, Chair Samantha Snead, Vice Chair Linda Curtis Asa Jenrette Matt Joyner Joyce Melvin-Jones Ryan Lowrie Andrew Wilson Bob Boester, Emeritus Terri Vander Vennet, Director Absent: Visitors: No visitors in attendance. Lynne Hutton Ben Naidorf, Legal Call to Order and Approval of Minutes: The meeting was called to order at 12:00 P.M. A motion was made by Ms. Curtis to approve the February 28, 2023 meeting minutes. The motion was seconded by Ms. Melvin-Jones and passed unanimously. Chair Report: No Report Director Report: Ms. Vander Vennet reviewed past and upcoming events. Other Business: Discussion continued on how to mitigate the impact of potential new arenas being constructed in the market in the near future. Mr. Boester shared his knowledge of how shows were secured prior to Live Nation taking over operation of the Virginia Beach Amphitheatre and how tours are less likely to move to an arena from an Amphitheatre, where they have an opportunity to sell 20,000 seats. The Coliseum’s current operating profit model was weighed against the prior economic impact model and the potential of promoting in-house to secure more events. New Business: Mr. Boester and Mr. Lowrie introduced a potential means of increasing revenues through product branding, which the committee will address future in future meetings.
