Hampton Coliseum Citizens Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes – January 23, 2024 12:00 P.M. Attending: Linda Curtis Asa Jenrette Matt Joyner Ryan Lowrie Joyce Melvin-Jones Woody Newman, Chair Samantha Snead, Vice Chair Andrew Wilson Bob Boester, Emeritus Terri Vander Vennet Charlie Gardner Absent: Visitors: Lynne Hutton Ben Naidorf, Legal Call to Order and Approval of Minutes: The meeting was called to order at 12:02 P.M. A motion was made by Mr. Lowrie to approve the November 28, 2023 meeting minutes. The motion was seconded by Ms. Melvin-Jones and passed unanimously. Chair Report: Chair Newman announced his desire to step down as Chair of the committee and nominated Mr. Lowrie for the Chair position. Ms. Curtis was nominated for Vice Chair, to replace Ms. Snead, whose 2nd term is expiring February 28, 2024. No other nominations were made and Mr. Lowrie and Ms. Curtis were elected to the positions of Chair and Vice-Chair. The committee finalized candidate recommendations for Council Appointment. Ms. Vander Vennet will be sending a letter of recommendation to the Council Clerk for Council review. Director Report: Ms. Vander Vennet reviewed past and upcoming events the FY23 profit realized by Coliseum Operations. Members discussed the impact to Coliseum Operations from Aquaplex finances and requested the Director to provide more information on how this will be handled in upcoming years. Other Business: Ms. Vander Vennet provided an update on the product branding project and that an agreement template has been created and is being sent to Council for review. New Business: Ms. Vander Vennet provided an update regarding the search for the new Artistic Director. Members discussed how to bring more shows to The American Theatre and provide feedback for booking future seasons. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 1:01 P.M.
