Hampton Coliseum Citizens Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes September 24, 2024 12:00 PM Attending Members: Lynne Hutton Matt Joyner Ryan Lowrie, Chair Joyce Melvin-Jones Woody Newman Karen Scott Bob Boester, Emeritus Staff Members: Visitors: Terri Vander Vennet, Director Absent: Linda Curtis Vice-Chair, Andrew Wilson, Brad Young, Ben Naidorf, Legal Call to Order and Approval of Minutes: The meeting was called to order at 12:02 PM by Chairman Lowrie. A motion was made by Mr. Joyner to approve the June 25, 2024 meeting minutes. The motion was seconded by Ms. Scott and passed unanimously. Chair Report: Chair Lowrie reminded members of the importance of meeting attendance and asked members to commit to attend each month. Director Report: Ms. Vander Vennet provided an update past and upcoming events. A sample of fabric for the new folding chairs was passed around for the committee’s input. All folding chairs will be replaced in FY25. Ms. Vander Vennet shared the increasing requests to fly un-tethered drones inside the venue as part of the performance and that she is working with the City’s Risk, Fire, and Police departments to identify any safe uses, if other venues have policies in place, and to create a city-wide indoor drone use/non-use policy. Ms. Vander Vennet shared the 2024 Hampton Jazz & Music Festival financials and the committee discussed the attributes of the festival, its history, and thoughts on the festivals continued profitability. Other Business: Ms. Vander Vennet provided an update on the status of the Hampton Coliseum Mothership trademark registration. New Business: Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 1:02 PM.
