Hampton Coliseum Citizens Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes October 22, 2024 12:00 PM Attending Members: Linda Curtis Vice-Chair, Lynne Hutton, Matt Joyner, Ryan Lowrie, Chair, Woody Newman, Karen Scott Brad Young, Andrew Wilson, Bob Boester, Emeritus Absent: Joyce Melvin-Jones, Ben Naidorf, Legal Staff Members: Visitors: Terri Vander Vennet, Director Charlie Gardner, Deputy Director Call to Order and Approval of Minutes: The meeting was called to order at 12:01 PM by Chairman Lowrie. A motion was made by Ms. Curtis to approve the September 24, 2024 meeting minutes. The motion was seconded by Ms. Hutton and passed unanimously. Chair Report: Chair Lowrie requested a special meeting be scheduled to discuss the Hampton Jazz & Music Festival and gather ideas for how the festival can continue successful operations. The meeting will be scheduled for Monday, November 4, 2025 at 4:00pm. Ms. Vander Vennet will provide sales, attendance, and financial information for the meeting. Director Report: Ms. Vander Vennet provided an update past and upcoming events. Ms. Scott shared the experience of attending her first Monster Jam performance and suggested ear plugs be made available for children. Members contributed their experiences how local drivers for Grave Digger and El Taco Loc are a good draw for attendees. Status of current projects and future project priority of the Capital Improvement Plan were discussed. Members discussed suggestions for improving directional signage for the interior of the arena, including using QR codes to assist patrons in finding their seat locations. Other Business: Mr. Boester requested Mr. Gardner to provide a detailed update of Oozlefinch’s Mothership branded beer sales for the November meeting.
