Opening Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 5:00pm. A. Roll Call and Verification of Quorum 1  Quorum verified. B. Pledge of Allegiance C. Chair Announcements II. Director’s Report • The Armistead Pointe Community Meeting will be held at Charles Taylor Arts Center on Feb. 4th at 6:00pm to discuss the development of recreation facility facilities in the Armistead Pointe area. • The “You Make a Difference” program will take place soon to give Hampton 101 graduates an opportunity to meet the Neighborhood Commissioners. • Cindy Woolwine is the acting manager Manager for the Neighborhood Division and Terry O’Neill is now the acting Executive Director of the Neighborhood Commission. III. Briefings A. Safe and Clean Update • Three goals were established in Phase One of the program: o Maintain a relationship between the city City and the community o Reduce Criminal criminal activities in the target areas o As well as dDecrease blight within these neighborhoods • City personnel, with assistance from numerous support groups, knocked on over 1,900 doors. What? • The goals for phase two of the program are to get the community more involved by: o Hampton Roads Home Show Comment [s2]: …or Homearama? o Neighborhood Briefingsbriefings o Add to the future agendas for further discussion on suggestions to promote community involvement. • Inspections have not begun, but the deadline for them is March 2014. • City Council approved the ordinance to conduct the hotel and motel inspections. IV. Action Items A. Consideration of the Nominating Process for Districts 1 and 9 • Tommy Southall, reported on behalf of the Nominating Committee. The Committee would like to recommended for David Duxbury for District 1 and Rhonda Woods for District 9. The committee Committee asked for consideration of the nominating process for the seats of Districts 1 and 9. A recommendation from the committee Committee is not required to make a motion. Recognition of the Northampton Civic League • A motion was made by Kathy Johnson and seconded by Ann Bane to The Chair asked consideration to recognize the Northampton Civic League in honor of their 60th Anniversary Kathy Johnson made a motion to. Ann Bane seconded the motion. The Chair called for a vote. Chair voiced, “All in favor please say aye.” Response, “aye.” Chair voiced, “Opposed?” Response – none. Comment [s4]: Do you really have to include all of this for every vote? Can we just say “Motion carried; all in favor.” Or something like that? Motion carried. C. Recognition of the First United Methodist Church of Fox Hill • A motion was made by Kathy Johnson and seconded by Alice Callahan The Chair asked consideration to recognize the First United Methodist Church of Fox Hill for their contribution to the betterment of the community. Kathy Johnson made a motion to. Alice Callahan seconded the motion. The Chair called for a vote. Chair voiced, “All in favor please say aye.” Response, “aye.” Comment [s5]: Same comment as above.  Chair voiced, “Opposed?” Response – none. Motion carried.
