Civic Communications Committee Meeting Results December 5, 2016 – Canty Conference Room- 5:00 PM Present: Barbara Hogan Chair - At-Large Commissioner Sandra Medina - District 4 Neighborhood Commissioner Marcie Spragan - Neighborhood Development Associate Fred Everett – District 5 Neighborhood Commissioner Chekesha White - District 10 Neighborhood Commissioner Stephanie Afonja – Nonprofit Representative Jason Price – Hampton Police Representative Absent: Alice Callahan – District 6 Neighborhood Commissioner The regular meeting of the Civic Communications Committee of Hampton Neighborhood Commission was called to order at 5:00 PM on December 5, 2016 at Canty Conference Room by Barbara Hogan. I. Approval of Agenda The agenda was distributed and unanimously approved. II. Review of Previous Minutes The minutes was distributed and unanimously approved. III. Consideration of Open Issues 1. Chair Remarks – Barbara Hogan  Debrief – Meet & Greet  80 to 100 people in attendance  Youth Commission ice breaker and engagement success  Continue Outreach  Jason Price will continue via email unless additional assistance is required - Agreed unanimously as a committee 2. You Make a Difference Event  Date and Time – 2017 March? 5pm to 6:30pm?  Location Suggestions – First Queen Street Baptist Church Hall, Convention Center  Theme Ideas - Brainstorm  Supplies – Decorations, Catering Services  Recognition Certificates – Hampton 101, 201, RNSO??  Awards - 3. Identify Priority Projects  Awareness of Neighborhood Commission  Registered Neighborhood Serving Organization, Benefits Page 1 of 2  Hampton.gov/neighborhoodcommission - Website Update  Meet and Greet – Marketing, Enhancing Event, Engaging/Partnering Organizations  Outreach – Youth, Senior, Military  Support – Hampton Home Repair Blitz, City Events, Hampton 101, 201 4. Hampton Registered Neighborhood-Serving Organizations – Reviewed  A Few Good Men  Southwest Hampton Neighborhood Watch  Create Workshop for RNSO’s – Networking, City Services, How – To’s  Review and Revise the Registered Neighborhood Serving Organization form  For Profit/501c3, Senior, Military  Form appearance - generic, outdated  RNSO Future Benefits - Brainstorm IV.
