I. Welcome and call to order – Kevin Myers
II. Budget Presentation – Brian DeProfio
a. Overview of the Capital Improvement budget.
III. Old Business
a. Advisory Board meeting minutes will start being published online at Hampton.gov in
order for the public to have access to the information. Attendance to monthly meetings is
important so the minutes can be approved and business conducted.
IV. New Business
a. The large shelter at Gosnold Hope Park is almost complete and will be available for use.
This shelter was torn down due to storm damage. Two additional shelters are being
replaced and electrical conduit is being added.
b. The department is working toward building an inclusive playground.
c. The Parks division will begin painting Buckroe Beach pavilion stage and repairing the
decking boards on the observation pier prior to the start of the season.
d. Presentation of Briarfield Park plans. There are two versions of the plans; the first has the
most dramatic changes including shifting the baseball fields. The second leaves the fields
in the same place. Also included in plans are amenities such as: a dog park, a walking
trail, batting cage and disc golf. The board recommends combining the best of both plans
in order to have all of the best amenities in one plan. Mr. Myers informed the board the
plans will be made public in order for citizens to have input.
e. The program division has been working on a proposal to bring new programs into the
department. There is an application process and the program division will review for
content. The proposal will be presented at April’s board meeting for review.
f. The parks division is working on replacing the vita course at Gosnold Hope Park. PRLS
has reached out to companies to get a proposal.
g. There were plans drawn up in the past including, but not limited to development around
the Boo Williams Sportsplex that haven’t been located. Mr. Myers will provide an update
on these plans in the April meeting.
V. Updates and Announcements
a. Officers will be elected during the April meeting provided there is a quorum.
VI. Adjourn
a. Meeting was adjourned at 7:43 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Kellie Godfrey
