Minutes of the June 25, 2020 Planning Commission Meeting IV. Public Hearing Items A. Zoning Ordinance Amendment No. 20-00012: This is a proposal by the City of Hampton To Amend And Re-Enact Chapter 12 of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Hampton, Virginia Entitled, “Nonconformities” to restrict the expansion of legally nonconforming uses. If approved, this amendment would restrict the expansion of legally nonconforming uses to the area which the legally nonconforming use occupied on the date of the adoption of this ordinance; it would permit legally nonconforming one family, two family, and duplex residential uses to expand the use to an area not greater than the boundaries of the parcel at the time of adoption of this ordinance. This amendment would also prevent legally nonconforming structures from enlarging their nonconformity or creating a new nonconformity. This proposed ordinance incudes exceptions to allow for the expansion of legally nonconforming one family, two family, and duplex residences. V. Community Development Direct or’s Report A. The public is invited to attend meetings and to observe the work and deliberations of the Planning Commission. The public may also address the Planning Commission on public hearing items by signing up to speak prior to 3:40PM on the day of the meeting. Speakers will be recognized in the order in which they sign up and are asked to state their name and address, to limit their comments to 3 minutes, and to avoid repeating comments made by previous speakers.
