Hampton Senior Citizen Advisory Committee May 6, 2019 Hampton Senior Center Members Present: Cynthia Harris, Martha Clark, Doris Farmer, Peggy Marshburn, Ingrid Kirschmann, Christine Evans, Linda Kindred, Martha Johnson, George Gwynn, Jr. Agency Representatives: Sean Clark, Gloria Jones Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services; Barbara Stewart Department of Social Services; Bill Massey, Maria Santarsiero Peninsula Agency on Aging Sean Clark called the meeting to order at 10:07 am., called the roll and read the minutes from the April 1st SCAC meeting and a motion was made to accept the minutes by Martha Johnson as read and the motion was 2nd by Doris Farmer. Minutes were accepted by those present. Old Business: Subcommittee reports: Linda Kindred presented for the Town Hall subcommittee. The group is finalizing the questions for the mayor and making final preparations. The Town Hall meeting is scheduled for 6pm, May 21st. Mrs. Waldo presented for the Resident Association subcommittee. The committee is working to get more information to Tidewater and Woodlands residents and establishing manager contacts. Cynthia Harris presented for the Awards Committee. She is currently in the process of recruiting additional members to assist. Cynthia Harris provided skill surveys to the committee during the April meeting. She wanted to provide reminders and assistance to those who have yet to submit their completed form. New Business: The Senior Citizens Advisory Committee has decided to conduct a luncheon for members and visitors after the June 3rd meeting. Agency Reports: Gloria Jones provided the agency report for Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services. The Senior Center will be hosting the Just for You Spa Day for Mothers and Grandmothers. The annual Senior Expo takes place on May 22nd, 11a-2p with lunch provided. TRIAD’s Sr. Luncheon will be held on May 23rd and tickets can be picked up at the Senior Center. Bill Massey provided the agency report for Peninsula Agency on Aging. The Forum on Aging will be holding their signature event on May 18th. The 45th Anniversary Senior Ball Gala benefiting Peninsula Agency on Aging will be held at the Holiday Inn-City Center 980 Omni Boulevard, Newport News. The meeting adjourned at 11:27 am and the next meeting is Monday June 3rd, 10:00am at the Senior Center. Respectfully submitted, Sean Clark
