PENINSULA STADIUM AUTHORITY Minutes from November 6, 2017 The meeting was called to order by Jim Wilson, Chair. Others in attendance included: Frank Feagan, Wayne Gomes, Sallie Marchello, Kevin Myers, Lola Perkins, Ruth Simmons, Tim Smith, Brenda Stokes, Pat Uribes, and AG Womble from the board, Darren Nicely-a former Pilot, Mayor Donnie Tuck, and Henry Morgan, Hank Morgan, and Jeffrey Scott from Community Baseball. Minutes of the October 2, 2017 meeting were approved. The Treasurer's report was approved. We have $189, 330.86 and are waiting on requests to pay approximately $5,500 for bathroom work and up to $6000 for fencing and the foul pole. Mike Hodges, Jim Wilson, and Mary Bunting have a meeting scheduled for November 15th to discuss a one story building versus a two building for close to $2,000,000.We moved to build a two story building and request additional money ASAP so that it can be built ASAP. Our focus is inside the stadium, ADA compliance, safety and making a statement with such additions as a new entrance, handicap accessible restrooms, an elevator to the second floor which will be used for banquets, VIP viewing, etc. To do the building plus drainage, we will probably need all $3,600,000 which is in the plan for capital improvements. Mayor Tuck feels that Council would like to pay the money forward and get things done. We need to let the public know what the construction schedule will be. We believe that the cost estimate from Public Works is high. Hopefully, we will be able to negotiate for a lower price than $2,000,000. We need to have a financial time frame. Jeffrey said that work on the fence has been approved to be done by Mike Tyndall. The restroom doors have been replaced and will be painted. A contract is being worked on for seat replacement in the stadium. It should be less than $2,000.There is no more leaks in the third base restroom. There are some in the men's restroom at first base and in the shower in the men's locker room. Material has been removed from the bullpen area. The Pilots will put down stone. The budget on the left field side was $89,000. For the right field line, it is expected to be $67,000. That does not include the $4,800 for the fence. The Pilots requested and we approved $67,000 for completion of the right field bullpen project. Jim expressed concern about the leaning wall and the lights that affect the batter's eye from the business behind the wall. We have not heard more from Fred Whitley about field drainage. Darren will work on the stadium history. He discussed providing an interactive experience, ways to get youth involved in baseball, and ways to bring in more people. He says that a fundraising campaign needs to be built. Community Baseball will help with financing. Lola checked with the city manager, at Mayor Tuck's request, about getting funds paid forward and was told that could be done in order to get projects done as quickly as possible. We will wait on fundraising discussion. Lola says there is no definitive decision about naming rights, but she will continue to research that option. Frank, once again, requested that we get signage to show our location. The next meeting will be December 4, 2017.
