PENINSULA STADIUM AUTHORITY Minutes from December 4, 2017 The meeting was called to order by Jim Wilson, Chair, at Brown Chicken Brown Cow. Others in attendance included Frank Feagan, Wayne Gomes,Sallie Marchello, Lola Perkins, Ruth Simmons, Tim Smith, Brenda Stokes, Pat Uribes, and AG Womble from the board and Henry Morgan from Community Baseball. The minutes of the November 6, 2017 meeting were approved. The Treasurer's report was approved with Sallie stating that we have paid for the bathroom renovations and the first part of the fence. Other restroom work, the parking lot, and locker room work will come later. Jeffrey Scott has left the Pilots to work closer to home for Edward Jones. Henry has interviewed several people for his position. Jim Wilson updated the group on recent meetings that he and Henry Morgan had with City officials during the month of November. The first meeting took place in early November at War Memorial Stadium with Public Works Operations supervisor Quincy Daniel. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the importance of cleaning out and reshaping the entire drainage ditch, starting behind the right field wall and continuing around the outfield stadium wall and down the side of the parking lot out to the retention pond area. They were told that there is a current backlog of projects and that the work will be scheduled to be completed during the winter months. The second meeting was with Public Works engineering staff at City Hall. The purpose of the meeting was to provide a priority listing of future capital improvement projects for War Memorial Stadium. The information will be provided to Hampton City Council in their work session in mid-December. The projects that were provided for their review are 1. Entryway pavilion 2. Resurfacing the parking lot 3. Parking lot lights 4. New restroom on the first base side 5. Recoating the grandstand steel framing The estimated cost of these projects will be $3, 550,000. The next meeting of the Stadium Authority will be at War Memorial Stadium on February 5, 2018.
