PENINSULA STADIUM AUTHORITY Minutes January 7th, 2019
The meeting was called to order by Jim Wilson, Chair. Others in attendance included: Pat
Uribes, Randy Price, Frank Feagan, Wayne Gomes, Brenda Stokes, Sallie Marchello, Lola Perkins
and Linda Williams.
The December meeting was more of a social/end of year celebration hosted by the Peninsula
Pilots.
Treasurers report-no change, balance $101,060.94 PSA is expecting reimbursement of
$7520 from the City for the Insurance payment.
There is a claim in the process for the lightning strike that occured in September which
damaged the Wifi and PA systems. Henry is estimating the damage at $59,000. Frank
made a motion to go ahead and start making the repairs, up to $60,000, in case the insurance
company does not pay. Wayne seconded the motion and it was approved by the
Committee.
Jim reminded the Committee that we were sent a Conflict of Interest form and it needs to be
completed and turned into the City by February 1st.
Current projects-parking lots are in the process of being marked with parking spaces. Painting
contractor is on site now and finishing up the painting of the metal poles in the stadium seating.
They should be done with that project by Friday 1-11-19. The New Building project is not
going well, many delays such as co-ordination problems, bad weather and a broken pile driver.
It was suggested by Lola that the City Project Manager, Ron Sterling, speak with the Contractor
to get things moving along.
Overflow parking project on Pembroke Ave by the Auction Building. Frank and Randy will
work with the Boy Scouts to establish a pathway in the wooded area and build a walking bridge
to access additional parking. Prior to starting this project, Lola will take the lead to set up a
meeting to include the key players for this project. They include: Frank Feagan, Allison Eubank
and Steve Shapiro. The goal of this meeting is to discuss the specifics and what work permits
are necessary, etc. Once this is done, then the Boy Scouts can start the project.
Focus for 2019 is: Field Drainage, Utilities and Field work
Jim presented a copy of a draft for Future Projects to Consider a Planning Process. He wants
us to review these items so that when we come back for our February meeting we can discuss
them.
Lola wanted to remind us that the City has many resources that we can use for press releases
such as, Convention & Visitors Bureau, Marketing & Outreach and the City Channel.
Jim recommended that a couple of members on this Committee be replaced from the Board for
failure to attend our meetings due to work obligation conflicts. The Stadium Authority will be
looking for future replacment members.
Meeting was adjourned by Jim Wilson.
