The meeting was called to order by the Chair at 12:00 p.m.
A roll call was conducted, and seven voting members were present; there was a quorum.
Minutes
A motion to accept the May 6 meeting minutes was made by Randy and seconded by Ruth. All voted
and the motion passed unanimously.
Treasurer’s Report
On Melissa’s behalf, Garth presented the Treasurer’s report that included five approved expenses
totaling $51,235 (Ottis Elevator invoice - $256; reimbursement to Pilots for scoreboard net - $11,970;
reimbursement to Pilots for final payment for concession renovation - $35,410; QuickBooks invoice -
$55; and Invoice CPA services - $3,543) with a balance of $127,532. A copy of the summary report was
provided to the secretary. A motion to accept the report was made by Garth and seconded by John. All
voted and the motion passed unanimously.
Opening Day & 1st Week Observations
• * Karla arrived at 12:10.
• Overall, opening day was a good day.
• Henry reported that a New England Blogger wrote positively about the Pilots and the stadium.

• Painted parking spaces and parking help was good; but people continued to park on both sides
of Pembroke.
• Kitchen grills did not work on Thursday; they are now working.
• Sound system did not work on Thursday, it is now working.
• Kids (ages 12-17) are overwhelming and causing problems
o Enforce smoking areas.
o Engage the two security staff members to enforce all posted rules.
Pilots to openly post rules.
Security has the authority to remove individuals.
• Al Hoilman (History Museum) and his team completed the history wall panels and banners.
• While the sound system was not optimal, the 2024 opening day video with various speakers
(City, PSA, and Pilot leadership) was viewed on the new scoreboard as part of opening
ceremonies.
City Project Update - Locker Room
Invitation to bid posted on May 28, pre-bid meeting occurred on Monday, June 3 coordinated by
Hampton Public Works. Bids are due to the City by June 25.
Winter Projects 2024/25
Garth reviewed the list of potential projects to jumpstart thinking about next year’s winter projects. We
will discuss priorities at future meetings. The PSA has available funds at this time for quick turn projects.
A motion to reimburse the Pilots $10,000 to remove the carpet from the play area; paint/resurface the
play field; and procure flowers to invigorate the stadium exterior was made by Randy and seconded by
Ruth. All voted and the motion passed unanimously.
Bollards, gates, and new signs have been placed in the stadium parking lots. Individuals can still enter
the lots by driving around or through ditches. Signs and other options to fix this matter were discussed,
but no action was taken at this time.
Peninsula Pilots Updates
The following highlights were provided by the Pilots and Community Baseball, LLC (CB LLC):
• The Batters Eye screen in center field was recommended to be replaced/repaired last season. A
motion to reimburse the Pilots $2,000 for the batters’ eye screen was made by Garth and
seconded by Ruth. All voted and the motion passed unanimously.
• Henry reported that they have a great group of “kids.”
• Henry acknowledged the Do Gooders of Hampton Roads and Gymnastics Inc for supporting the
concession stands.
• The Pilots are 1st in attendance and currently in 2nd place.
New Business
Dave is coordinating a safety review of the stadium including a review of handrails and the large initial
step in the stands.
The Chair adjourned the meeting at 1:05 p.m.
Next regular meeting is July 1, 2024, at 12:00 (noon) at War Memorial Stadium.
