Guthrie Memorial Library Board of Governors Meeting May 9, 2024 Attendance: Nat Fissel, Eric Klansek, Chrissy Rosensteel, Steve Sherman, Bobbi Little (teams), Andy Smith, Darlene Funk, Mark Riggs, Tara Kauffman, Lizzy Baldwin, Barb Hentz, Amy Hill, Jim Shelton The meeting was called to order at 12:16 PM by Chrissy Rosensteel Public Comment #1 Approval of April 2024 Minutes: Approved with a motion by Andy, and a second by Nat. Committee Reports: Nominating: No Report Honors/ Aristotle: Nat updated that the Honors Committee selected Chrissy Rosensteel as the yearly recipient. The ceremony is slated for Sunday, September 8th, 2024. Public Relations: Tuesday, May 14, at 6:30 PM is the scheduled meeting for the public. Report of the Director: The library will be closed May 25-27 for observance of Memorial Day. They are in the process of scheduling volunteers for the PA Room. Lizzy attended Career Day at St. Joseph’s School. Summer Quest information will be going out to local schools. Saturday, June 1st is the kick-off for the Summer Quest. Shout out to Jennifer Croney who received her masters in Library Science. Fundraising Report: Tara reported that the annual report was mailed. Tara attended Penn Township and West Manheim Township meetings. Funds were received from CNC Bank. Also, the estate of Cree Peck is being finalized. HPLA Finance Commission: The investment committee met with the People Bank last week. No changes were made. The next meeting with Peoples Bank is July 29th. Borough Manager Report: Nothing to report YCL: John Miller reported that the only thing that is currently being worked on is the MOU. Library – YCL Update: The MOU is being fine-tuned. Another meeting is scheduled (end of May). We hope to vote on this at the June meeting. Friends of the Library: 64 donors- A little over $5000 was raised for Give Local York. Last year, only $1900 was raised. Old Business: No old business New Business: No new business Public Comment #2: Isaac Riston shared that he is asking Hanover families to attend the Public meeting that is scheduled for Tuesday, May 14. Isaac shared that families are curious about what is happening with the library. Jeff Spangler asked questions regarding the public meeting for next Tuesday. Andy Smith clarified that the lease agreement is between the borough and whoever is leasing space at the library. The meeting was adjourned at 12:36 PM The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 12:15 PM in the Bare Center.
