Guthrie Memorial Library Board of Governors Meeting
July 11, 2024
Attendance:
Brett Hoffacker, Nat Fissel, Eric Klansek, Chrissy Rosensteel, Bobbi Little, Andy Smith, Darlene
Funk, Lizzy Baldwin, Jim Shelton, Margaret Lewis, Tara Kauffman, Barb Hentz, Mark Riggs,

The meeting was called to order at 12:15 PM by Chrissy Rosensteel
Public Comment #1 Sandy Moul asked about access to Orphan court ruling and other appeal
court rulings. She also inquired about previous year's operating deficits. Margie shared that
these are Right To Know requests and a form can be submitted.
Approval of June 2024 Minutes: Approved with a motion by Chrissy Rosenstell , and a
second by Andy Smith.
Committee Reports:
Nominating: No report
Honors/ Aristotle: Barb emailed Chrissy and shared that the September 8th Honors
event is on schedule.
Public Relations: No report
Report of the Director: Lizzy shared that the library has self-check out machines now and a
limited number of patrons are using them. A bunch of outreaches are planned and have taken
place. The library attended Pride Fest. There were 361 visitors. The library will attend
Snacktown Street Fest on Saturday, July 13, 2024. Kelly will be doing a storytime event on the
main stage at 9:00 AM at the Snacktown Street Fest.
Fundraising Report: Tara shared that a large donor check came through. The annual appeal
is now called ‘Turning Pages’. Tara shared the major gift form with the group. The cutoff for
turning the form in will be February 1- January 1. Tara showed the book that will be shown at
the library that coincides with the donation amount ($10,000+, $5000-$9999, $2500-$4999, and
$1000-$2499). Tara said there will be a more personal touch with fundraising going forward.
HPLA Finance Commission: Brett shared that you received Peoples Bank statement.
Everything is still in line with the guidelines. July 29th is the next scheduled meeting. Brett
shared the merger is still going through between Orrstown Bank and Peoples Bank.
Borough Manager Report: Margie shared that the budget process is still ongoing. Meeting
with Lizzy next week. Jim shared the GML summary analysis (flash report) of years 2023,
2024, and 2025.
YCL: John shared that there is no state budget yet. The vote may happen soon. If the budget
is delayed then state aid will be delayed.
Library – YCL Update: Work is going on behind the scenes for divestment.
Friends of the Library: Barb shared that the pens were selling. There are summer sales in
the book nooks. Barb found a volunteer to help promote sales. Her name is Marsha. There is
a book sale coming up in August. The dates are August 15 (10 AM-5 PM), August 16 (10 AM –
4 PM), and August 17 (10 AM- 1 PM). Barb shared that there will be book collections all year
only on Mondays (10 AM- 8 PM). There will be three sales in 2025. In September, there will
be a fundraiser with Divino’s. Barb will be meeting with the owner to hash out. Barb is looking
to bring new board members to the Friends of the Library. Several positions are still open.

The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 12:15 PM in the Bare
Center.
