VILLAGE OF HANOVER PARK CULTURAL INCLUSION AND DIVERSITY COMMITTEE/COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING Village Hall Room 214 2121 W. CALL TO ORDER - ROLL CALL Meeting called to order by Chairperson Kahn at 6:22pm PRESENT: Committee Members: Board Liaison Liza Gutierrez, Grace Khan, Adelita Molina Zeier, Victoria Akinde, Valeria Aguilera, Zach Levy, and Dennis Haffron ABSENT: Committee Members: Jesus Salazar, and Debra McDonald OTHER: Anne Haffron, Faith Tran, Kelly Murawski, Barry Kurcz (Staff Liaison) 2. ACCEPTANCE OF AGENDA Dennis Haffron motioned to accept the agenda Adelita Molina Zeier seconded the acceptance. Roll Call Vote – All Ayes Motion Carried 3. PRESENTATIONS/ REPORTS: 3-a. None 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: 4-a. Approval of May 16, 2023 Meeting Minutes Valeria Aguilera motioned to accept the May, 2023, meeting minutes. Zach Levy seconded the acceptance. Roll Call Vote – All Ayes Motion Carried 5. ACTION ITEMS: 5-a. Implicit Bias Training Update Staff Liaison Kurcz provided an overview of the Implicit Bias Training explaining why the training was important to complete, and the steps to complete and sign off on the training. He opened the conversation for any questions and answers those questions thoroughly. 5-b. 2024 CIDC Budget & Events Staff Liaison Kurcz shared the projected budget with CIDC Committee Members for 2024. Following discussion, CIDC events for 2024 are: MLK Build Up Day-$1,000 Resources and Refreshments-$100 Hispanic Heritage Month Event-$1,100 Monthly recognitions/celebrations - $1,000 It was determined that monthly recognitions or celebrations will be held in Room 214 and either be educational, proclamation, or partnering with other non-profit organizations. The committee decided that the $1,100 event each year could rotate or be determined each year. 5-c. Hispanic Heritage Month Event Planning (September 19th) Committee members started planning for the Hispanic Heritage Month, ideas were presented but not finalized. Therefore, a special meeting was set for Thursday, August 31, 2023. 5-d. October 17th Discussion (Leaders Reception or Global Diversity Awareness) Due to time restrictions for the meeting, chairperson Khan called for action item to be tabled until “Special Meeting” on August 31, 2023. All committee members agreed. 6. TOWNHALL SESSION: Persons wishing to address the public body must register prior to Call to Order. Please note that public comment is limited to 5 minutes per speaker. None Scheduled 7. OLD BUSINESS (NON-ACTION ITEMS): 7-a. None 8. NEW BUSINESS (NON-ACTION ITEMS): “Special CIDC Meeting” planned for Thursday, August 31, 2023, for planning Hispanic Heritage Month for September 19, 2023, and to discuss October 17th Leaders Reception or Global Diversity Awareness. 9.
