STATED TOWN BOARD MEETING MAY 22, 2018 The Town Board of the Town of Hempstead, New York, met at the Town Meeting Pavilion, Hempstead Town Hall, 1 Washington Street, Hempstead, New York, on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. Roll was called: PRESENT: LAURA A. GILLEN, Supervisor BRUCE BLAKEMAN, Councilman ANTHONY P. D'ESPOSITO, Councilman DENNIS DUNNE, SR., Councilman DOROTHY L. GOOSBY, Senior Councilwoman ERIN KING SWEENEY, Councilwoman Members of the Town Board ABSENT: EDWARD A. AMBROSINO, Councilman ALSO PRESENT: SYLVIA A. CABANA, Town Clerk DOLORES SEDACCA, Deputy Town Clerk JOSEPH J. RA, Town Attorney KEVIN CONROY, Town Comptroller Supervisor Gillen asked Councilwoman King Sweeney to lead the assemblage in the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag. Supervisor Gillen asked for a moment of silence before the Pledge, to remember the victims killed in Texas. Councilman Blakeman and on behalf of Councilman Ambrosino, honored students of Sewanhaka High School. The students took part in "Students Active in Law Sale". These students at the high school level, who expressed interest in the law, and process of creating laws, made recommendations as to what they thought would be good laws. The students made three recommendations, two of which were accepted by the Town of Hempstead, Engineering Department. One of the accepted recommendations to be voted on today, belongs to Ashley Dan. Councilman Blakeman invited Supervisor Gillen to join him at the podium to present a citation to Ashley and on behalf of her fellow students who stood along with her.
