STATED TOWN BOARD MEETING FEBRUARY 4, 2020 The Town Board of the Town of Hempstead, New York, met at the Town Meeting Pavilion, Hempstead Town Hall, I Washington Street, Hempstead, New York, on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at 7:00 P.M. RA, Town Attorney JOHN MASTROMARINO, Town Comptroller Supervisor Clavin asked Councilman Blakeman to lead the assemblage in the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag. Town Board honored Regeneron Scholars: Andrew Brinton, finalist, who was not in attendance, Katherine St. George, finalist, and Kenar Gelman, semifinalist, three students of John F. Kennedy High School, Bellmore; Sara Bahri, semifinalist of Lynbrook High School, Lynbrook; Sheryl Lin, semifinalist of Island Trees High School, Levittown. The students were a part of a competition that for almost two decades was formerly known as "Intel Science Search Contest" renamed "The Regeneron Science Talent Search Contest", it recognized the nation's most talented high school students. This year Long Island captured thirty six semi-finalist slots and five of those situated right here in the Town of Hempstead. The scholars each received $2,000 in recognition of their scientific achievements as well as their schools will also receive $2,000 per student.
