TOWN-VILLAGE AIRCRAFT SAFETY & NOISE ABATEMENT COMMITTEE One Washington Street, Hempstead, New York 11550 (516) 489-5000 x3296 – TVASNAC@tohmail.org Meeting Minutes Monday, July 25, 2022 In Attendance Carl Baessler, Village of Atlantic Beach Andrew Weiss, Village of Floral Park Laurence Quinn, Village of Garden City Richard Pallisco, Village of New Hyde Park James Vilardi, Executive Director Kevin Denning, Town of Hempstead Brad Regenbogen, Town of Hempstead Deputy Town Attorney Joining tonight’s meeting was Kevin Denning of the Town of Hempstead in place of Secretary Carol Renta who was ill. James Vilardi asked Kevin Denning to take attendance, and the meeting was called to order. Attending on behalf of Nassau County Legislature Presiding Officer Richard Nicollelo was Meredith Hughes. Meredith and James Vilardi once again discussed the advantages of the county and town working together to coordinate efforts. Andrew Weiss stressed the importance of communicating with the community and suggested the county and town consider holding a joint press conference. Additionally, Franklin Square resident Josephine Barone was present to express her extreme frustration with the airplane noise in her neighborhood and having residents’ voices heard. Andrew Weiss suggested she may want to start a petition, get neighbors to sign it and send to our federal officials. James Vilardi suggested holding a community meeting with residents and mayors and notifying the local papers of the meeting date and time to get the word out. A suggestion was made to create and circulate a list of federally elected officials to distribute at the meeting so residents can contact them individually with their concerns. James Vilardi suggested inviting Senator Schumer to join us at an upcoming meeting so we can get his advice on how he might assist the committee with the FAA. James went on to state the FAA may be manipulating the noise meter data, and perhaps we should consider coordinating a letter writing campaign with other elected officials addressing this issue and requesting an update on the Part 150 Study. James Vilardi asked if anyone had any items to add. Hearing none, Laurence Quinn called for the meeting to be adjourned and Andrew Weiss second the motion. Prepared by: Carol Renta Secretary, TVASNAC 1
