138 CITY OF HENDERSON – RECORD BOOK Record of Minutes of Called Work Session Meeting on September 01, 2023 A Special Called Work Session of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Henderson, Kentucky, was held on Friday, September 01, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., prevailing time, in the third- floor Assembly Room of the Municipal Center, 222 First Street, Henderson, Kentucky. There were present Mayor Bradley S. Staton presiding: PRESENT: Commissioner Robert N. Pruitt Commissioner Rodney Thomas Commissioner Austin P. Vowels Commissioner Nicholas E. Whitt CITY STAFF MEMBERS included: William L. “Buzzy” Newman, Jr., City Manager; Dawn Kelsey, City Attorney; Holli Blanford, Public Information Officer; and Donna Madden, Executive Assistant ALSO PRESENT: Dr. Bob Lawson, Henderson County Schools Superintendent; and Junior Ambassadors ________________________ THE FOLLOWING AGENDA ITEMS WERE DISCUSSED: Junior Ambassador Panel Discussion • Panel Discussion included challenges faced by Board of Commissioners and city staff; success stories; how a student can prepare to meet the challenges of public service; how to volunteer for committees and organization to get involved in the community now; many diverse opportunities await students in our community if they are open and willing to get involved. • Be Committed – Be Caring – Be Confident _______________________ NO FORMAL ACTION WAS TAKEN BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS. ________________________ MEETING ADJOURN: MOTION by Commissioner Thomas, seconded by Commissioner Pruitt to adjourn. The vote was called.
