72 CITY OF HENDERSON – RECORD BOOK Record of Minutes of Called Work Session Meeting on March 19, 2025 A Special Called Work Session of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Henderson, Kentucky, was held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 5:30 p.m., prevailing time, at the Henderson Municipal Services Center (MSC) located at 1449 Corporate Court, Henderson, Kentucky. There were present Mayor Bradley S. Staton, presiding: PRESENT: Commissioner Kelsey Hargis Commissioner Robert N. Pruitt, Sr. ABSENT: Commissioner Rodney Thomas Commissioner Nicholas E. Those five committees will be: 1. Blight and Affordable Housing Committee 2. Economic Development Committee 3. Neighborhood Empowerment Committee 4. Public Safety Committee 5. Youth Engagement Committee MAYOR STATON explained that each group would advocate for 3-4 projects to address issues specific to their respective committees. He further elaborated that the committees would be expected to prepare their project lists to be presented during a mid-year review, some time around August, as well as a final review in December, at which time, a voting process would take place in order to select the top projects to be funded. He continued by reporting that the voting process would be open to the public, with each person being given 3 stickers, with numbers 1 through 3 on them, to rate their first, second, and third favorite projects. Each number 3 sticker will be worth 1  73 CITY OF HENDERSON – RECORD BOOK Record of Minutes of Called Work Session Meeting on March 19, 2025 point, number 2 stickers will be worth 2 points, and number 1 stickers will be worth 3 points, giving voters the opportunity to rank their votes. MAYOR STATON continued by listing project examples from prior years’ committees, including: flock camera system expansion; a grant offering assistance to homeowners for exterior home improvements; a community sports court; the Henderson Encouraging Resident Officers (HERO) project; the addition of sidewalks near South Heights Elementary; doorbell cameras; alleyway improvement; community flower pots; affordable internet and free Wi-Fi locations; a tax moratorium for buildings 25 years or older; securing grants for improvements to Dr. Anthony Brooks Park; and the addition of a Victim’s Advocate position for Henderson Police Department. DISCUSSION WAS HELD amongst individual committees in attendance in regard to members, election of committee chair members, and selection of meeting dates and times. ________________________ NO FORMAL ACTION WAS TAKEN BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS. MEETING ADJOURN: MOTION by Commissioner Pruitt, seconded by Commissioner Hargis, to adjourn the meeting. The vote was called.
