CITY OF HENDERSON CITY COUNCIL MINUTES COMMITTEE MEETING May 21, 2013 I. CALL TO ORDER Mayor Hafen called the Committee Meeting to order at 6:32 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 240 Water Street, Henderson, Nevada 89015. II. CONFIRMATION OF POSTING AND ROLL CALL The Acting City Clerk confirmed the Committee Meeting had been noticed in compliance with the Open Meeting Law by posting the Agenda three working days prior to the meeting at City Hall, the Multigenerational Center, the Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, and Fire Station No. 86, and by mailing a copy of the Agenda to everyone appearing thereon on the Agenda Master Mailing List. C-4 BILL NO. 2719 AMEND HENDERSON MUNICIPAL CODE CHAPTER 8.01 POLICE SERVICES FEES CITY ATTORNEY'S OFFICE / POLICE DEPARTMENT Bill No. 2719 was introduced and read by title: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HENDERSON, NEVADA, TO AMEND TITLE 8.01 TO COMPLY WITH STATE AND LOCAL FEE SCHEDULES AND MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO. Josh Reid, City Attorney, stated that there will be various revisions to Title 8, the Criminal Code. He said this particular change deals with fees and changes being made to comply with state law. Mayor Hafen commented that these items are basically housekeeping matters to ensure language is up to date. Mr. Reid noted that staff has reviewed the entire Code with the help of various departments. He confirmed that these are housekeeping changes with no major changes in law. Henderson City Council Committee Meeting Page 9 of 10 May 21, 2013 – Minutes C-13 BILL NO. 2728 AMEND HENDERSON MUNICIPAL CODE CHAPTER 8.28 HOTEL REGISTERS CITY ATTORNEY'S OFFICE / POLICE DEPARTMENT Bill No. 2728 was introduced and read by title: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HENDERSON, NEVADA, TO AMEND CHAPTER 8.28 TO REFLECT CHANGES IN TECHNOLOGY AND MATTERS PROPERLY RELATING THERETO. Councilwoman Schroder stated that this bill addresses writing in the register at hotels. She referred to language with brackets around it and asked if this language is being removed. Bob Zentz, Senior Assistant City Attorney, confirmed that that language will be removed and replaced with modern technology language. He noted that this particular ordinance was from 1953. Josh Reid, City Attorney, clarified that anything underlined is new language, and the language in brackets is being removed.
