CITY OF HENDERSONVILLE ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY BOARD Operations Center - Assembly Room | 305 Williams St. | Hendersonville NC 28792 Thursday, March 17, 2022 – 3:00 PM MINUTES 1. CALL TO ORDER A. Roll Call- Mary Ellen Kustin, Chairperson APPROVAL OF AGENDA 2. Consideration of Agenda - Mary Ellen Kustin, Chairperson APPROVAL OF MINUTES 3. Approval of minutes from 02/17/2022 - Gracie Erwin, Staff Liaison Reminder to send sub committee minutes to me before Main meetings if possible. PUBLIC COMMENT 4. Public Comment- Allotted time, 15 minutes PRESENTATIONS 5. Signing Mayors Monarch Pledge - Lyndsey Simpson, Councilwoman a) With special guests: kids who participated in the Symbolic Monarch Migration ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY BOARD – March 17, 2022 Page | 1 Took pictures and these will be sent to the communications manager to upload for social media. Pledge was signed electronically by Lyndsey Simpson. SUBCOMMITTEE UPDATES 6. Sustainability Planning - Caroline Beamer, Subcommittee Chairperson 7. Bee City - Will Garvey, board member Officially Resides in Bullington Gardens. Their first meeting is set for Monday 3/21/22. 8. Recycling and Plastics, Working to be Plastic Free campaign - Geri Conley, board member Two more business have signed the working to be plastic free pledge- Flat Rock Bakery and Two Guys. Idea of implementing a voluntary plastic bag program. 9. City Council - Lyndsey Simson, Councilwoman Voted to submit letters to council. OLD BUSINESS 10. Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend - Mary Ellen Kustin, Chairperson a) Review letter to citizens climate lobby b) Review letter to City Council Voted to send letters to the Lobby climate- 11. Review of Proposal for EV Charging Infrastructure in New Construction - Will Garvey, Board Member 12. Update on Ecusta Trail Letter - Ann Twiggs, Board member ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY BOARD – March 17, 2022 Page | 2 NEW BUSINESS 13. Earth Week- Lyndsey Simpson, Councilwoman a) Hendersonville Earth Day Park Cleanup (“Don’t Trash Hendo!”?) b). Social Media c). Proclamation 14. Up Coming Speakers a) April- Will Garvey, Board member b) June- Lyndsey Simpson, Council woman 15. Environmental Fair - Ann Twiggs, Board member 16.
