AGENDA
1. CALL TO ORDER
Meeting called to order at 3:32pm
2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Parks and greenspace native plant letter moved to next month’s agenda
Virginia motioned to approve first followed by Mary Ellen
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. Approval of February 15th meeting minutes
Virginia motioned to approve first followed by Gina
4. PUBLIC COMMENT
A. Public comment - 5 minutes
Glenn Lange – 623 Fernbrook
Glenn spoke to encourage the board to come and speak at the next City Council meeting in
support for the proposed changes from the Tree Board for the Tree Ordinance.
5. STAFF LIAISON UPDATE
A. Caitlyn Gendusa, Staff Liaison - 12 minutes
Budget update
Kelly would like to see the budget update on each meeting’s agenda
Sustainability plan presentation to City Council
Caitlyn will resend draft board letter for feedback
Compost workshop
6. SUBCOMMITTEE UPDATES
A. Hendo EarthFest – Ann Twiggs & Frank Stewart, Members - 10 minutes

Exhibitors are now finalized and committee is purchasing clickers to track number of event
participants. Committee is now meeting every other Friday.
B. Waste Reduction – Virginia Tegel and Frank Stewart, Member - 15 minutes
Sustainability demonstration station update
Councilwoman Simpson said she would like the board to bring this project up for City
Council vote at a future meeting. Caitlyn will coordinate presentation. Virginia is also
working on securing partnership with Hendersonville Rescue Mission.
Motion to present to City Council – Ann motioned first followed by Mary Ellen
7. NEW BUSINESS
A. Mayor’s Monarch Pledge action items – Jill Carter, Member - 10 minutes
Virginia motioned to approve this year’s actions followed by Ann
B. Tree ordinance letter – Kelly Pahle, Chair - 15 minutes
The board has concerns of the fee in leu and not having the Tree Board’s input on site reviews.
The board motioned to have Gina make public comment on behalf of the E.S.B. with Virginia
abstaining and all others voting yes.
8. OLD BUSINESS
A. Parks and greenspace native plant letter – Kelly Pahle, Chair - 5 minutes
Moved to next month’s meeting agenda
9. CITY COUNCIL UPDATE
A. Lyndsey Simpson, Council Woman - 5 minutes
Councilwoman Simpson gave insight into City Council’s reasoning for the Tree Ordinance
revision changes such as following City attorney recommendations
10. CLOSED SESSION
A. Closed Session for Sustainability Hero Award - Kelly Pahle, Board Member
Kelly motioned to move into closed session followed by Gina
The board voted on three candidate nominations with votes 1-5-0
Virginia motioned to adjourn out of closed session followed by Kelly
