CITY OF HENDERSONVILLE ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY BOARD City Operations Center – 2nd Floor Meeting Room | 305 Williams St, Hendersonville, NC 28792 Tuesday, June 10, 2025 – 4:30 PM MINUTES CALL TO ORDER Meeting called to order at 4:38 p.m. Margina Baxter, Caitlyn Gendusa, Jill Carter, Fiona McColley, Virginia Tegel, Judith Moolten, Alicia Stump, Jane Edgar, Emily Davidson, and Kyla Christensen present. Omar Zafra absent APPROVAL OF AGENDA Jill Carter would like to add the Farmers Market booth for this weekend on the agenda. Virginia Tegel would like to add sprucing up the SDS. Alicia Stump motioned first followed by Emily Davidson. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Alicia Stump motioned to approve first followed by Jane Edgar. CITY COUNCIL LIAISON UPDATE City Council approved the FY26 budget. Caitlyn Gendusa will email board members what the ESB’s approved funds are. City Council did not make changes to the Tree Canopy Ordinance. Mike Huffman’s Walk & Talk at the Oklawaha Trail went well. Caitlyn Gendusa will ensure board members are notified of upcoming sustainability related City events. City Council is working with the Mills River Partnership to host river cleanup days. PUBLIC COMMENT No public comments made. OLD BUSINESS 3. Hendo Earth Fest Policy Plan - Emily Davidson, Member (15 minutes) ESB members have until June 17th to provide Caitlyn Gendusa with any remaining edit requests. After this time, Caitlyn Gendusa will email last year’s Subcommittee members for their feedback before bringing the Hendo Earth Fest Policy Plan back to the ESB to finalize. Volunteer Update - Caitlyn Gendusa, Staff Liaison (5 minutes) Caitlyn showed ESB members the most recent excel sheet of sign-ups. 6. ESB Outreach Dates - Caitlyn Gendusa, Staff Liaison (5 minutes) Caitlyn Gendusa is redoing laminated signs. Caitlyn Gendusa making sign on how-to-compost instructions for SDS. Caitlyn Gendusa printing out extra copies of SDS brochures 7. Green Business Partnership Update - Jane Edgar, Member (5 minutes) Jane Edgar is planning on rolling out the initiative at an upcoming Rhythm & Brews event. NEW BUSINESS 8. Walk Audits - Virginia Tegel, Chair (10 minutes) Virginia Tegel had a call with Bike Walk HVL on hosting a walk audit. Alicia Stump and Jane Edgar interested in completing a walk audit. 9. Apple Country Public Transit - Virginia Tegel, Chair (7 minutes) Virginia Tegel is organizing an Apple Country Public Transit bus tour. Emily Davidson, Jane Edgar, and Kyla Christensen have signed up. 10. Plastic Free July - Caitlyn Gendusa, Staff Liaison (5 minutes) Caitlyn Gendusa asked board members to email her their plastic free tips to post on the City’s social media pages for Plastic Free July. Alicia Stump volunteered. Caitlyn Gendusa is sending a reminder to board members. UPCOMING CITY COUNCIL TOPICS PERTINENT TO ESB 11. Kyla Christensen, Student Member (5 minutes) Kyla is resuming for July board meeting. ADJOURNMENT Fionna McColley motioned to adjourn first followed by Jane Edgar.
