CITY OF HENDERSONVILLE ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY BOARD Operations Center – Assembly Room | 305 Williams St. | Hendersonville, NC 28792 Tuesday, January 13, 2026 – 4:30 PM MINUTES CALL TO ORDER Meeting called to order at 4:37 p.m. Members present: Emily Davidson (Zoom), Jill Carter (Zoom), Virginia Tegel, Richard Harris, Kimberly Blackwell, and Kyla Christensen Members absent: Alicia Stump APPROVAL OF AGENDA Emily motioned to approve first followed by Jill with the addition of public comment. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Jill motioned to approve the November 2025 meeting minutes first followed by Emily. PUBLIC COMMENT Jan from Trinity Presbyterian Church attended virtually to collect information to share with her church on what the board is working on. Kathleen recently submitted an application to be on the board and attended virtually to learn more. BUSINESS Welcome new members! - Emily Davidson, Chair Approval of Hendo Green Partnership structure - Jill Carter, Member Jill shared an updated process and parameters for Hendo Green Partnership. Caitlyn is working on scheduling a presentation from ESB to City Council. Hendo Earth Fest update - Emily Davidson, Chair Sustainability Topic Presentation - Emily Davidson, Chair Emily is sending out updated link for board members to sign up for a sustainability topic presentation. Status of FY26 board budget - Caitlyn Gendusa, Staff Liaison Potential purchase with extra funds: ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY BOARD – January 13, 2026 Page | 1 Edible garden signage & designation at Grove Street Park (part of current stormwater restoration project). Edible plants include: Persimmon, Paw Paw, Spicebush, Highbush blueberry, and Elderberries Educational signage: ~$4,500 Caitlyn is going to find more information from Mike Huffman, Stormwater Director on what is needed for the signage. Vote on FY27 Budget - Caitlyn Gendusa, Staff Liaison Virginia motioned to approve first followed by Richard. Sustainability Hero Award planning Caitlyn is going to start promoting. Kimberly volunteered to review applications. SDS maintenance schedule - Virginia Tegel, Member Board members signed up for once/month (ideally weekly) checkin on maintenance.
