CITY OF HENDERSONVILLE TREE BOARD City Operations Center | 305 Williams St. | Hendersonville, NC 28792 Monday, February 10, 2025 – 2:30 PM MINUTES MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE: NATALIE WILCOXEN,GLENN LANGE, RICHARD BOWERMAN. LYNSEY SIMPSON, MELODY CRAWFORD BY PHONE. 1. CALL TO ORDER 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Motion to Approve: Glenn Lange Second: Rich Bowerman 3. City Council Update – Lyndsey Simpson: City is finishing up most of the Helene vegetative storm debris pick up. B. Tree Ordinance Committee Update: Glenn Lange submitted the proposed ordinance revision to staff and added the revision discussion to the April meeting agenda. C. 2025 Educational Programming The board voted to host a Stream Restoration walk with Mike Huffman in early June and to host a “How to treat invasive species on your property” lecture in mid to late July. Glenn agreed to look for objective educational materials for the website including the “right tree in the right place’. 5. NEW BUSINESS A. 2025 Calendar Discussion The proposed calendar will be voted upon in the March Meeting. B. Annual Budget Discussion The proposed budget was discussed and will be voted upon in the March meeting. TREE BOARD – February 10, 2025 Page | 1  C. 2025 Planting Schedule The NeighborWoods plantings will start in mid March. Greenway and Park Plantings will be in April. D. Bee City USA Project Discussion The Triangle on Highway 64 East was discussed and a phased approach was preferred. A design needed and a volunteer to fill out the DOT encroachment Permit The board needs to hire a gardener to maintain the Tree Board’s pollinator beds. E. ESB The Tree Board will request the ESB help with a planting day. F. Arbor Day Celebration Michele Garashi-Ellick from the Rotary Club presented options for the Arbor Day Celebration. She would like to include a school this year, and offer some type of contest to encourage children to take interest in trees. She met with the principle of Hendersonville Elementary and follow up form staff in necessary to move the process forward. 6.
