CITY OF HENDERSONVILLE TREE BOARD City Operations Center | 305 Williams St. | Hendersonville, NC 28792 Monday, August 11, 2025 – 2:30 PM MINUTES 1. CALL TO ORDER N/A – due to not having a quorum, meeting was not able to be called to order. 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA N/A – due to not having a quorum, agenda was not able to be approved. 3. NOTES ON DISCUSSION AMONGST MEMBERS Attendees: Lyndsey Simpson, Glenn Lange, Natalie Wilcoxson, and Ed Skvarch. County ESB - Arielle Emmett Letter to the Editor - Glenn Lange, Member Natalie Wilcoxson is going to reach out to invite Arielle to speak at a future Tree Board meeting. Arielle’s personal email cannot be found online but she can be messaged through LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/in/arielleemmett/ Farm City Day Plans - Glenn Lange, Member October 4th from 10am-4pm – The Tree Board has a booth and will be giving away trees. A request was made for the Tree Board to also have more educational activities which Glenn Lange suggested educating on how to plant the tree and how to decide if this is the right tree for the area. 4. NEW BUSINESS City Council Update - Lyndsey Simpson, City Council Member H.B. 765 Update – No new updates 2025-2026 Educational Presentations - Glenn Lange, Member September – Presentation by Steve Pettis – Taking Care of Trees After the Storm October – video presentation from Dr. Doug Tallamy November – Native Garden Design presentation by Valerie Arca of Mist and Moss Farm Garden Jubilee – The Tree Board is waiting until April to hear back from Terrye Jacobs if they are able to have a booth at the event. Glenn Lange brought up partnering with the Environmental Sustainability Board to share the tabling spot. The Tree Board will also be giving away trees at this event. TREE BOARD – August 11, 2025 Page | 1 Another potential educational presentation would be in partnership with Conserving Carolina. Glenn Lange mentioned Pam Torlina, Conserving Carolina’s Community Engagement Director will be invited to present at the next Tree Board meeting. Bradford Pear Bounty - Glenn Lange, Member The topic will be postponed for next Tree Board meeting. Newsletter Update - Caitlyn Gendusa, Sustainability Manager Caitlyn Gendusa is emailing members the latest update on the newsletter. There will be a new form for people to opt into receiving the newsletter and the first issue will go out in October, 2025. Discuss Planting Plan Map - Caitlyn Gendusa, Sustainability Manager Currently, the City of Hendersonville is looking into having an updated tree canopy percentage study completed that potentially may be funded in part from an Arbor Day foundation grant. The City of Hendersonville is committed to providing accessible facilities, programs and services for all people in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
