We had $12,978.95 at the end of November. The $1,265.65 earmarked for the caterer for the Open House has been added back to the account balance. Christmas Open House The Open House was cancelled due to the tornadoes that rolled through Hendersonville on December 9, 2023. The caterer did not charge a fee or penalty for the cancellation. Community Disaster Clean Up Everyone came together and did an incredible job. From the time Kathy met with the Mayor on Tuesday afternoon until the clean up on Saturday, it was fast and furious. There were lots of moving parts. Good media coverage. Rick Murray did a good job covering the clean-up day with pictures and an article in the Hendersonville Standard. Clean-Up Day was a success and people are still wanting to volunteer to help! BH Auto Trash Bag Reorder We are running low on the bags. We need to reorder before going into the schools February 20th -23 rd . Michele asked if she is to go through the same ordering process as last year. Kathy said if they did not want to bill us, she could check out the city's credit card for the purchase. Robbie asked if there was anyone locally to print the bags that quality. Kathy said if she could find someone local to get a price from them. Michele said she would check with the guy that is doing things for Rotary's Wine and Roses. Christmas Decoration at City Hall Removal and Storage We will meet at City Hall on January 4, 2024 to take the tree and decorations down. Other Business Brittany Morris is our new contact person with TDOT replacing Denise. Denise has been promoted to a new position with TDOT. Brittany is from Hendersonville and her roots are still here. She is very aware of the trash situation in Hendersonville; especially on 386. She cannot allow us to schedule a cleanup on 386 because it is too dangerous for volunteers. They train their own contract people to be out there. Because of the safety factor, the State is allowing more funding for contract work. She thinks it has been submitted for twice a month pickup instead of once a month. Brittany wasn't sure of the dates because TDOT's Maintenance Department takes care of the scheduling. There is a Litter Hotline online that you can call if you see someone throwing trash out of their vehicle. You will need to get their license plate number, location where you saw it and the date. Trash also falls off the trash trucks and the beds of pickup trucks. Kathy suggested doing some "Pop-Up Cleanups" where she will send an email and a group can meet at a particular place and pick up trash in particular areas. These will be outside of the organized County- wide cleanup date in March or April. Trace Buerkett stopped by to say "Thank You for a Great Job" to all the committee members for their part in the Community Disaster Cleanup on December 16th . He knows someone that would like to volunteer to help on the committee. Michele gave Kathy's name to Rotary's Speaker Selection Person. A Rotary Club member was asking about Beautiful Hendersonville and what they do. Kathy would like to have the school presentation video available to show at the next meeting. She had one last year and it worked well to make sure everyone is on the same page. Kathy will contact the principal of each school by the end of January and give them dates of when we can come to the school. Motion to Ad journ Motion: Robbie Borghi Second: Robert Cox Vote: Approved unanimously Adjourned 10:30 a.m. Next meeting February 1, 2024
