Design, Cost, Promotion Kathy mentioned that Memorial Park volleyball court has twelve trash cans. The goal is to have all of them decorated (WOW Factor) and maintained so it will promote Beautiful Hendersonville, litter awareness and beautification. Trevor said the only maintenance Parks would do is empty the trash bags. Kathy met with Crimm Blakeslee (Artist). The cost is $4,800 for twelve cans and he has agreed to paint two that we already have for free. He can use material on the bottom of the cans like they use on truck bed liners. He can drill weep holes in the barrels for water drainage. Also, he has agreed to do the touch ups. All will be completed by April 6th . We can get 55-gallon barrels for $24 each from a vendor that purchases from Smuckers. Kathy mentioned the quality of material that we will be using on these canst should last for five years with normal wear and mowing does not cause damage. Trevor will mention it to the mowers. Kathy mentioned raising them and using tires to make feet because the water stands around the volleyball court when it rains hard. The six cans in the pavilion would not have to be raised. Rob asked if the City could pour concrete pads for the platforms and cans to sit on. Robert Cox said he could pour the concrete pads and put a bolt in them to anchor the trash cans. Michele asked if we could decorate the ones across the road at Memorial Park since it doesn't flood over there. Trevor Cole will check into ADA compliance for concrete pads for the trash cans. ( Rob questioned if we could use the wraps instead of painting them so we could change out the scenes. Kathy said the wraps could get torn and be hard to repair. Rob said you could put laminate over the graphic to protect it. Kathy asked Rob to check into the cost of the laminate for the trash cans. She said the wraps that Goodlettsville hired Mr. Sign Man to do for their utility boxes cost $1,200 to $1,300 each. Crimm will do them for less than $500 each and will deliver them to us. Rob agreed that this is a reason to use paint instead of wraps. Motion: Kathy made motion to give Crimm okay to order the paint and start on the trash cans Second: Robbie, Rob and Robert Vote: Approved unanimously Brid ge and Gazebo - Pressure Wash . Paint Scott Hall said he would still pressure wash the bridge. Beautiful Hendersonville committee members will paint the bridge. Parks can pressure wash the gazebo and Rob will paint it. Look at calendar and meet to paint gazebo on May pt if possible. Trevor will talk to Andy Gilley about providing the paint for the gazebo. Mayor Clary is working on getting electricity to the bridge. Banners Kathy recommended putting banners and planting wildflowers at the new walking trail behind Lyncoya Cafe. This could be a forerunner to the murals. With the Corp of Engineers being involved, it may take time to approve. Trevor is not sure how much the Corp owns. Rick Murray has agreed to let Beautiful Hendersonville use some of his photos of sunrises, sunsets and starry nights for the banners. It was suggested to have them incorporated along with this being a nature trail. Musical artists that live or have lived in Hendersonville would be featured on the banners at the bridge to honor them and showcase our "Music City" heritage. Kathy suggested letting them know that we are honoring them when informing them of our project .. Maybe the ones that still live here, could can have a day to recognize them. There was discussion about this to get the momentum going. Community Clean-U p Day - Charlotte Gerrard with Sumner Health Committee The date has been set for April 6, 2024. Fliers have been sent out. The check-in location has changed because of the Handmade Market using City Hall's parking lot. Jesse Eckenroth approved using the pavilion behind City Hall for sign-ins and the back lot for parking. We will be working with Charlotte and she will take care of the signage to make sure people know where to park. We are going to rent a inflatable tube man for $75 that will direct people to where to park for the Community Clean-Up. We need to get sign put on the digital board. Kathy will contact Wade with parks. The list of suggested places has been submitted to TDOT for approval. When Charlotte gets approval, she will make new maps. She cannot advertise and promote that people can go out and work on private property with chain saws. They can go on their own if they have a property that they have permission to go on. Need to re-enforce that the equipment is for loan only and they need to return it. Clean-up times are 7:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m., 8:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m., and 9:00 a.m.-noon. E-mail reminders have been sent to remind volunteers that have already signed up. Schools Litter Awareness Dates and Video/ Slide Presentation Eliza with Beech Environmental has 105 people signed up for their cleanup on March 9, 2024. Kathy asked for a listing of their locations so that we don't double up. March is Litter Awareness Month. We are going into the schools March 25-28, 2024. The schools that we have scheduled are Lakeside, Nanny Berry, Jack Anderson and George Whitten. Indian Lake Elementary has asked that we do not come until after TCAP's. Shaunna talked about taking in her dog with her to the schools. This will be considered for schools that will allow dogs. Frank showed a presentation with animation and student interaction he would like to use. Kathy said everyone needs to use the same presentation and said that a flashdrive with the presentation will be given to each member to review to prepare for their presentations to the students. Kathy called Pope John Paul II Prep School about scheduling a time to talk to the new drivers. Michelle at JP2 said they were booked for the remainder of the year; but were interested in her coming next year. Kathy said the trash bags to take to the schools are ready for pickup so that you can put a flier about the Clean-Up Day in them. She is supposed to pick up the booklets from Helen this afternoon to go in them as well. Welcome Sign West Side Landsca ping We are looking at doing some landscaping around the Welcome Sign. Kathy has some quotes on having someone do that. We will discuss it at our next meeting. Budget Need to submit requests for new budget by the end of April. All projects we want to do are going to cost some money. Kathy and Michele will be putting together a budget. Other Business: Arts Festival at Sanders Ferry Park on May 11, 2024. Kathy said it would be nice to have gazebo cleaned up before then. It was mentioned that we need benches, trash cans and signage at the new greenway walking trail. It can be an educational experience for the students to view markers about the trees placed on the greenway. Trevor said there will be a meeting this afternoon to discuss who will maintain the new greenway.
