PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE MEETING, May 28, 2024 CONFERENCE ROOM 1, 5:00 pm Present: Alderman Mark Skidmore (Chairman), Alderman Eddie Roberson (Vice-Chairman), Alderman Michael Martin (Secretary) Absent: None Others Present: Mayor Jamie Clary, COO Jesse Eckenroth, Public Works Director Sarah Lock, Parks Director Andy Gilley, Alderman Terri Goodwin, Public Information Officer Casey LaMarr Called to order at 5:01 pm Accept the Agenda No objections Motion to Approve the April 23, 2024, Public Works Committee meeting minutes Motion: Alderman Martin Second: Alderman Roberson Vote: Approved unanimously Public Comments None Ordinances None Resolutions Motion to recommend approval of Resolution 2024-21, a resolution accepting the dedication of the completed streets in Durham Farms, Phase 3, Section 28B in Hendersonville, Sumner County, Tennessee Motion: Alderman Roberson Second: Alderman Martin Vote: Approved unanimously Motion to recommend approval of Resolution 2024-22, a resolution accepting the dedication of the completed streets in North Parrish Place, Right-of-Way Dedication Motion: Alderman Martin Second: Alderman Roberson Vote: Approved unanimously Motion to recommend approval of Resolution 2024-23, a resolution authorizing the City’s Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for a BlueCross BlueShield Healthy Place Grant Motion: Alderman Martin Second: Alderman Roberson Vote: Approved unanimously Motion to recommend approval of Resolution 2024-24, a resolution to adopt operating policies by the City’s Public Works Department for routine stormwater system maintenance Motion: Alderman Martin Second: Alderman Roberson Vote: Approved unanimously Other Agenda Items Trash Collection Update Public Works Director Lock reported that there was a week-long spike in missed trash reports due to equipment being down. Discussion ensued. Light Synchronization Public Works Director Lock reported that they have adjusted timing on the 3 main corridors. The feedback has been very positive. Discussion ensued. Residential Speen Limits Alderman Roberson explained why he requested to add this to the agenda; requests for 25mph for residential roads seems warranted for consideration. Discussion ensued. This will be discussed at a future meeting with Hendersonville Police Department included. Other Business Discussion Notes: Parks Director Andy Gilley had a question about a traffic study near Bluegrass Country Club. Public Works Director Lock confirmed there is a signal warrant being performed. Chairman Skidmore mentioned a tree branch, which is hanging down on Lakeside Park Dr @ Curtis Crossroads/Walton Ferry. Public Works Director Lock will pass it along to the Roads Superintendent. Chairman Skidmore acknowledged that Parks has had a lot to deal with after all the rains that have impacted their grounds. He also noted how well the City’s drainage system worked with these recent rains. Alderman Roberson asked Parks Director Gilley about how to improve resiliency of Mary’s Magical Place during these rains. Discussion ensued. More discussion was had on rain-related issues and our detention pond at Two Valley. Discussion ensued.
