City Council Meeting

OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS CITY OF HERREID, SOUTH DAKOTA SPECIAL MEETING July 17, 2023 The Herreid City Council was called to order by Mayor Gary Weismantel on the above date at 7:30pm at City Hall. The following members were present: A. Dupper, K. Rossow, P. Weisbeck, B. Vander Vorst, and B. Rossow, with L. Fuehrer being absent. Also present were: K. Hall, Finance Officer. Moved by K. Rossow, seconded by B. Rossow to approve the agenda. All members present voted aye, motion carried. Public Comments: Briefly discussed a couple of public comments submitted. Mosquito Spraying - It was noted that spraying has been completed and that spraying will continue in the coming days & weeks. Community Calendar: FO Hall informed the council that the ads the city normally places in the community calendar would be submitted for 2023. Pool – It was noted that the contractors will be coming soon to fix several of the lingering issues with some of the pool equipment and that the dump bucket will be checked as well. It was discussed and agreed upon that members of the council will meet to put together a final punch list for the contractors that needs to be addressed before final payment. They will then meet with the contractors to assure that all the issues are completed. Surplus Items – It was noted that the surplus items will soon be ready to post on the City Facebook page. Bids will be opened at the next regular council meeting on Tuesday, August 8th. Budget – Heard from FO Hall that there are a few departments that will need to be or possibly need to be supplemented for the 2023 budget. FO Hall presented the council with spreadsheets showing the current financial position in all departments and funds. After discussion, it was agreed that there will need to be a budget supplement and that FO Hall will prepare things for the first reading in the coming meetings. At 8:52pm Dupper moved, Weisbeck seconded to go into Executive Session pursuant to SDCL 1-25-2 personnel. All members present voted aye, motion carried. At 9:03pm Mayor Weismantel declared the council out of Executive Session. No action was taken.
