Room Tax Commission Meeting

Room Tax Commission Meeting Minutes Tuesday October 14, 2025 Greg Kubarski called the Room Tax Commission meeting to order at 6:00pm on Tuesday October 14, 2025. Kubarski asked if the meeting was properly noticed to which City Administrator Isaacs replied, “Yes.” Committee Members present included Carol Jefferies, Greg Kubarski, Kim Verbsky, and Mark Lankey. Michelle Hastings was absent. Others in attendance included City Administrator Cory Isaacs, City Treasurer Lisa Johnson, City Administrative Associate Sara McDonald, Karri Bartlett and Shania Sake from the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce, and Teresa Hanke from Hotel Hillsboro. Minutes from Tuesday, May 13, 2025, Room Tax Commission Meeting were reviewed. Motion by Jefferies, seconded by Lankey to approve these minutes as written. Motion carried by voice vote. City Treasurer Johnson noted that the commission had received a letter of resignation from Michelle Hastings of Hotel Hillsboro. Kubarski is appointing Teresa Hanke, representing Hotel Hillsboro, to fill the position and will be finalized at the Common Council meeting October 20, 2025. City Treasurer Johnson provided a Room Tax Financial Update and provided detailed reports for May through September 2025 totals. City Treasurer Johnson then provided the 2026 Room Tax Budget for review and approval. Motion by Verbsky, seconded by Jefferies to approve the 2026 Room Tax Budget including an excess in revenues to be designated at a later time as presented. Motion carried by voice vote. Motion by Jefferies, seconded by Verbsky to adjourn at 6:21pm. Motion carried by voice vote. Meeting adjourned at 6:21pm
