Minutes TREE BOARD Regular meeting 9 a.m. Jan. 17, 2024 Board Meeting Room of Town Hall Annex, 105 E. Corbin St. Present: Chair Linda Paynter, Sharon Billings, Thomas Darling, Mixon Nelson, Jon Simpson, and Gregory Yavelak Absent: Vice Chair Bridget Booher Staff: Public Space and Sustainability Manager Stephanie Trueblood 1. Call to order, roll call and confirmation of quorum Chair Linda Paynter called the meeting to order at 9 a.m. Public Space and Sustainability Manager Stephanie Trueblood called the roll and confirmed the presence of a quorum. 2. Agenda changes and approval There were no changes to the agenda. The agenda stood as presented. Motion: Jon Simpson moved to approve the agenda. Gregory Yavelak seconded. Vote: 6-0 3. Minutes review and approval Minutes from regular meeting on Oct. 18, 2023 Motion: Simpson moved approval of the Oct. 18, 2023, minutes as submitted. Yavelak seconded. Vote: 6-0 4. Presentations Adopt 2024 Tree Board meeting schedule. Trueblood reviewed the schedule for the year. Motion: Thomas Darling moved to approve the 2024 Tree Board meeting schedule. Simpson seconded. Vote: 6-0 5. Updates A. Garden Club Sharon Billings reported on the opportunity for the Tree Board’s representation at a climate related event in Hillsborough. The board discussed available materials for presentation at events. Motion: Billings moved for the Tree Board to participate in Climate Challenge with an information table on April 13, 2024. Simpson seconded. Vote: 6-0 B. Invasive Removal Team Darling gave a history of the project and ideas for future plantings. 101 E. Prohibited and Recommended Plant Lists Subcommittee Paynter updated the board on progress on the list, which is geared toward large development. D. Education and Outreach Materials Subcommittee There was nothing to report. E. Staff Trueblood updated the board on the following:  The budget for the next three fiscal years for the board is being completed.  Outreach has begun for Fig Buttercup control.  A group of residents will be approaching the board for an Urban Archery program. 6.
