BOROUGH OF HO-HO-KUS MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL March 20, 2018-7:30 PM MINUTES Mayor Randall called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM. The opening statement was read. This is a work session of the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Ho-Ho-Kus, and members of the public are welcome to be present at this meeting. Under Chapter 80, Public Laws of 2002, Public Comment is allowed at this meeting. The comment period placement is established by the Mayor and Council. The governing body has the discretion to set the length of time for public comment. At Roll all members were present. Also present were Borough Administrator Bill Jones and Attorney David Rutherford. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES February 27, 2017 ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT Mr. Jones: Added to the consent resolution is an emergency purchase of a Sewer Jet truck for the DPW. The borough has the opportunity to purchase a demo at a lesser cost. Tax Collector Jeff Kropiewnicki is back working half days. Ban Renewal and Conceal and Carry resolution action to be taken at the Public Meeting on March 27, 2018. Discussions on opposition to Bill S5 the PFRS, there is a lot of talk about turning it over to the State. PUBLIC DISCUSSION Stanley Kober 919 Washington Ave. Had a presentation on Active Shooter at library, it was well received. We received a couple of positive comments from the Librarian. Former Bergen County police chief was in attendance who stated that it was very well done. The program was authorized through OEM and CERT and Police Department. This presentation was a civilian’s response to an active shooter/intruder incident. There is another presentation on April 26th at 7:00 PM at the library. Mr. Kober asked if it could be posted on the website and also asked everyone to get the word around. An emergency temporary appropriation be and the same is hereby made for Water Utility- Capital Outlay in the amount of $350,000.00 2. That said emergency temporary appropriation will be provided for in the Water Utility under the title of Capital Outlay 3. Motion: Councilmember Troast Second: Councilmember Rorty All Ayes OLD BUSINESS Liaison Reports: 1. a. Recreation/Board of Education Wrestling coming to an end, basketball is complete. Baseball is on the way. Next BOE meeting is March 29th. The BOE will be on top of the watering schedule, the Recreation Association will donate their time and money into maintaining the Field. Chamber of Commerce 3. Shade Tree NEW BUSINESS Mr. Jones: Too many demands for sign placements at borough location by different organizations. Currently, only two organizations can place signs at any one given time in the borough. To try and make peace Mr. Jones suggested the events be publicized through the website and Facebook.
