Board of Park Commissioners Minutes
Meeting of April 8 , 2013
Call to Order : Mrs. Sills called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M., followed by the Pledge of
Allegiance. The following Commissioners were present: Mrs. Sills, Mr. Ehrhardt, Mr. Hevel
and Mr. Mendoza. Also present were Council Representative Mr. Maggio, Park Superintendent
Mr. John Mitchell, and Secretary Karen Erler-Watson.
Approval of Agenda : Mr. Hevel made a motion to approve the Agenda as presented, seconded
by Mr. Ehrhardt. All aye, motion carried. (4-0)
Approval of Minutes : Mr. Mendoza made a motion to approve the minutes from March 11, 2013
as presented, seconded by Mr. Ehrhardt. All aye, motion carried. (4-0)
Approval of Register of Claims : Mr. Ehrhardt made a motion to accept the register of claims,
for April, as presented, seconded by Mr. Hevel. All aye, motion carried. (4-0)
Correspondence : Mr. Mitchell reported that he will need to speak with Mr. Brooks regarding
concessions at the softball field. Mr. Hevel made a motion to table this until the May meeting,
seconded by Mr. Mendoza. All aye, motion carried. (4-0)
Superintendent's Report : Mr. Mitchell reported that the part time workers have returned. Mr.
Mitchell also reported on the Community garden. Anyone can purchase a 10 X 10 plot. The
park department will water and fertilize the lots. The cost per lot is $20.00. They will be ready
for planting by May 1st. There are twenty-four lots located at Fred Rose (8th Street) Park.
Mr. Mitchell reported that senior swimming will be open to all Hobart resident seniors, on
Monday’s and Wednesday’s, from 10-11.
The pool will open on June 8th.
Five or six parks are in need of trees. Residents can purchase trees from Remus Farms. The
Park Department will plant the trees. Hobart Park Department will begin working on Robinson
Lake restrooms by the end of April.
There was a brief discussion regarding the pool lifts and ADA stairs, which have been ordered.
Plan Commission Report : Mr. Mendoza reported that the Marsh Plan has been approved.
The resolution will go before the Council.
Council Report : Mr. Maggio had nothing new to report.
School Board Report : Mike Rogers was absent.

Announcements :
Mrs. O’Brien, representing Friends of Robinson Lake, thanked Mr. Mitchell for the effort on the
restrooms at Robinson Lake. She reported on the repairs to the doors. There have been issues
with four wheelers in the area. They would like to put up a sign with rules for the park, paid for
by the Friends of Robinson Lake.
Adjournment : Mr. Hevel made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Ehrhardt. All aye, motion
carried. (4-0) The meeting was adjourned at 6:25pm.
