City of Hobart Board of Park Commissioners Minutes Tuesday October 10, 2014 *Special Meeting* Call to Order: Mr. Ehrhardt called the special meeting to order at 12:10pm, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The following Commissioners were present: Mr. Ehrhardt, Mrs. Sills, and Mrs. Liss. Also present were the Park Superintendent Mr. Mitchell, and Park Board Secretary Julie Mandon. Special Meeting Business: Phil Gralik was in attendance to discuss the Oak Savannah Trail project addition and in order to get an authorization to proceed notice. Mr. Gralik explained that there was unsuitable fill in the pathway which would have taken $350,000 to fix so that cost was eliminated by re-routing the path about 1,000 feet. This project would add curbs, an 8’ sidewalk, and driveways all connecting the Hollywood neighborhood to downtown Hobart. There was only one bid submitted and it was by Boyd Construction. Boyd wants to start as soon as possible even as early as Sunday with tree removal. Mr. Gralik stated that by doing this in project design in-house it saved the city almost $50,000. Mr. Gralik is asking the board to award the bid to Boyd Construction with a notice to proceed work as soon as possible beginning Sunday. Mrs. Sills motions to begin work as soon as possible and award the bid to Boyd Construction, seconded by Mrs. Liss. All aye, motion carried. (3-0) Mr. Mitchell thanks the board for making the special meeting on such short notice. Adjournment: Mrs. Sills made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Mrs. Liss. All aye, motion carried.
