Board of Park Commissioners Meeting Minutes of July 12, 2021 Call to Order: Mr. Kara called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. followed by the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. The meeting was held with the meeting open to the public and a call-in number for remote public participation. Roll Call: Commissioners in attendance: Mr. Kara, Mrs. Sills, and Mr. Weinman, School Board Representative Mrs. Hillan. Also present: Park Board Secretary Ms. Montes, Park Director Mrs. Goodpaster. Absent: Commissioner Mrs. Galka, and Council Representative Mr. Huddlestun Approval of Agenda: Motion by Mrs. Sills, seconded by Mr. Weinman to approve the agenda as presented. All aye, motion carried. (3-0) Approval of Minutes: Motion by Mrs. Sills, seconded by Mr. Weinman to accept the minutes as presented. All aye, motion carried. (3-0) Approval of Register of Claims: Mrs. Goodpaster explained that the security door fencing invoice is from the pool where the concession stand was and a section had to be wrapped up. Motion by Mr. Weinman, seconded by Mrs. Sills to accept the register of claims as amended. All aye, motion carried. (3-0) Correspondence: Nothing under Correspondence Director Report: Mrs. Goodpaster reported that the Fourth of July was a success, and the modified parade went well. Everyone was excited to see the fireworks back this year. She stated that we are still busy with all our summer events taken place in June, July, and August. Mrs. Goodpaster mentioned that the pool is doing well; had to close some days due to the rain. However, we have a full schedule with pool parties. Mrs. Goodpaster gave the board the full report of the country jam. She asked if they have any questions to please ask. No one had any questions. Plan Commission Report: nothing to report under plan commission Common Council Report: nothing to report under common council School Board Report: Mrs. Hillan reported that Andrew Clemons was chosen as the American Legion “The Eagle Scout of the year for Indiana 2021.” He has been recognized for all his hard work and dedication. She also mentioned that the Key Club has received numerous awards in the state of Indiana for their outstanding work. Heidi Polizotto, the leader of the group and the sponsor club sponsor. They went to the international convention and were awarded the distinguished Diamond Club. Heidi Polizotto received the outstanding faculty advisor and Shelia DeBonis received the outstanding Kiwanis sponsor award. Also receiving the bold single service award; The Hobart High school Key clubbers got talent. They did a virtual talent show to raise money for the Riley’s Children Hospital. Mrs. Hillan also commends the Park Department and Event, for the outstanding job on the Fourth of July celebration.
