MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE HOBART CIVIL SERVICE FIRE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF HOBART HELD September 8th, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. Call to Order/Pledge of Allegiance: Mr. St. Myers called the meeting to order at 18:00 followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The meeting was held publicly with call-in numbers and Zoom features available. Roll Call: The following members were present: Mr. Finnerty, Mr. St. Myers. Also present: Assistant Chief Tinsley, Clerk-Treasurer Longer. Absent: Mr. Schallenkamp, Chief Smith and Commission Secretary Pukoszek. Approval of Agenda: Motion by Mr. Finnerty and seconded by Mr. St. Myers to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried (2-0). Approval of Minutes: Motion by Mr. Finnerty and seconded by Mr. St. Myers to accept the minutes of the regular meeting on August 11, 2022, as presented. Motion carried (2-0). Correspondence: There was no correspondence. Committee Reports: There were no committee reports Old Business: Certification of New Hire List: Mr. St. Myers presented the list of seven (7) applicants, stating that two were disqualified: Applicant # 8818 did not meet the EMT requirements for the position and Applicant #8823 did not meet the minimum score of 70% required on the testing. The remaining five were ranked based on Test Scores, Oral Scores and Bonus Points. Motion by Mr. Finnerty and seconded by Mr. St. Myers to accept and certify the ordered list of the five qualified candidates. Motion carried. (2-0) Mr. St. Myers stated the Captain’s test has been posted and a new date has been set. New Business: Mr. St. Myers questioned whether to begin the application process again due to the hiring needs of the department. Discussion followed and consensus was to wait another month to discuss beginning the process again for future hiring. Announcements: There were no announcements Adjournment: On a motion by Mr. Finnerty, seconded by Mr. St. Myers, the meeting was adjourned at 18:07.
