Special City Council Meeting

Special Holdingford City Council Meeting February 18, 2014 The Special Meeting of the Holdingford City Council to discuss a natural gas proposal was called to order at 7:00p.m. by Mayor Ernie Schmit. People attending: Ernie Schmit, Mike Odden, Sue Marstein, Lloyd Rausch, Greg Palmer, Gerry Traut, Mike Smith, Anthony Stalberger, David Wohletz, Kathy Wohletz, Joan Wenning, Deb Kostreba, Patty Becker, Marty O’Hara, Bill Scepaniak, Rich Majeski, Nick Klug, Eric Berscheid, Don Wentland, Jeremy Freidenrich, Grant Milbrandt, and Tim Berscheid. Greg Palmer, President and CEO of Greater Minnesota Gas Inc. gave a presentation about bringing natural gas to Holdingford. He stated that in order to bring the cost of natural gas down so it will be the same as what people in Swanville pay, he will partner with Xcel Energy in some way. Gerry Traut from Xcel Energy was also at the meeting and stated that as of now it looks like the best way to provide natural gas to Holdingford would be to have Greater Minnesota put in the pipes and Xcel Energy sell the gas, but more study needs to be done to see what way is the most economical solution. A question and answer period followed the presentation. After Mr. Palmer and Mr. Traut left, further discussion was held between City Council members and citizens who were at the meeting. No one was against bringing natural gas to Holdingford and many positive comments were made, such as we would be crazy not to!
