TOWN OF HOLLYWOOD PARK
BOARD OF APPEALS MEETING
The Town of Hollywood Park Board of Appeals shall hold an in-person public hearing and meeting on the listed
date and time. The Town will use appropriate social distancing guidelines, which will reduce the capacity level
allowed within town hall during the meeting. Members of the public wishing to watch and listen to the meeting may
do so through our city website under the "watch our meetings" tab. This meeting will be recorded and posted on
the city YouTube channel.
Any resident who would like to comment on any of the topics listed on the agenda, please either attend the meeting
and sign up for citizen participation or submit your comment(s) via email to paten@hollywoodpark-tx.gov no later
than two hours prior to the start of the meeting. Your comment(s) may be read to the board during the topic and
will be provided to the board. Please include your name and address with your comment(s). Due to limited
available seating an email will ensure the board will receive your comment(s).

Sec. 14-586. Powers and duties.
a) The board of appeals shall have the power to hear and decide appeals of
orders, decisions, or determinations made by the building official relative to
the application and interpretation of this chapter.
b) The board of appeals shall have no authority relative to the interpretation of
the administrative provisions of this chapter, nor shall the board be
empowered to waive the requirements of this chapter.
c) Appeals to the board of appeals may be taken by any person aggrieved or by
any officer, department or board of the town affected by any decision of the
building official. Such appeal shall be taken within a reasonable time, as
provided by the rules of procedure of the board of appeals, by filing with the
building official a notice of appeal, specifying the grounds thereof. A fee
specified on the schedule of fees on file in the office of the city secretary must
accompany all appeals to the board of appeals. The building official shall
immediately transmit to the board of appeals all papers constituting the record
upon which the action appealed from was taken.
d) Notwithstanding any other provision of this article, the board of appeals shall
have no power or jurisdiction to hear an appeal if an abatement notice or
abatement order has been issued under article VI of chapter 2 of the Town of
Hollywood Park Code of Ordinances which contains or partially contain the
same property.

V. CITIZEN PARTICIPATION
A maximum of three (3) minutes per person is allowed. Those wishing to speak should sign up before
the meeting begins. Time cannot be passed to other speakers. Board of Appeals cannot discuss any
presented issue or take any action at this time.
VI. PUBLIC HEARING
A. Open Public Hearing:
Public hearing to receive comments on an appeal submitted by property owners,
Troy and Lisa Meuth, to APPROVE THE CONSTRUCTION OF A FENCE at the
property located at 504 Fleetwood Drive Street.
Specifically, the property owners are requesting review of a determination made by
the building official relative to the application and interpretation of the following City
Code provisions:
Chapter 14, Section 14-530 - Dimensions.
(a) Height restrictions. No fence or wall in excess of two feet in height shall
be erected forward of the building line of the dwelling. Except as may be
otherwise specified in this section, all other fences shall not exceed eight
feet in height. These restrictions are applicable whether or not the barrier
or screening device is a perimeter or interior fence.
(b) Fences. Fences in the front yard shall not be higher than two feet
above lot grade. Side or rear yard perimeter or interior fences are
permitted providing they, as well as front yard fences, are constructed of
wood, concrete, brick, galvanized chain link, or other materials approved
by the building inspector, and providing the side or rear yard perimeter or
interior fences do not exceed eight feet in height. On a corner lot, no fence,
vegetation or other obstruction whose height is greater than 24 inches, or
which blocks a motorist's view of oncoming traffic, shall be permitted within
the triangular area formed by the intersecting right-of-way lines extended
along the nearest boundaries of the street right-of-way and a straight line
connecting each such right-of-way line, at a point 15 feet from the point of
intersection, measured along such lines, as further illustrated and
incorporated herein by the attached sketch, which is on file with the city
clerk. Existing trees may remain, but must have their lower branches
removed from ground level up to a height of at least six feet, so as not to
obstruct the view of motorists.

Sec. 14-589. Action of appeal.
In exercising the powers set forth in this article, the board may, in conformity with the
provisions of this chapter, reverse or affirm, wholly or in part, or may modify the order,
requirements, decision, or determination appealed from, and may make such order,
requirement, decision, or determination as ought to be made, and to that end, the board
shall have all the powers of the building official. The board of appeals shall render all
decisions and findings in writing to the appellant and serve a duplicate copy to the
building official.

required by law, is also noticed as a meeting of the other boards, commissions and/or committees of the City,
whose members may be in attendance. The members of the boards, commissions and/or committees may
participate in discussions on the same items listed on the agenda, which occur at the meeting, but no action will
be taken by such in attendance unless such item and action is specifically provided for on an agenda for that
board, commission or committee subject to the Texas Open Meetings Act.
