City of Horicon Park Board Meeting Minutes
April 10, 2013
The April Park Board meeting was called to order on April 10th, 2013 at 6:00pm with Chairperson Susan Hady presiding.
Meeting was held at City Hall.
Members in attendance: Susan Hady, Julie Goldsbury, Mark Zuelsdorf & Richard Marschke
Members Absent: Joel Glawe
Others in attendance: Jen Kruel (YMCA) & Dave Magnussen (DPW)
*Motion by Zuelsdorf, second by Marschke, to accept previous meeting minutes.
All voting AYE. Motion Carried.
Public Appearances: Dan Buchner (Phoenix)
Aquatic Center & YMCA Report:
Jen gave her report about the new look of summer flyer. Discussion on Tag Center punches.
Parks Report:
Dave Magnussen (DPW) gave his report on damaged trees from poor weather. The spring and fall employees will be
helping with brush in the Parks. DPW has installed home run fence at Discher Park. Concerns on the Park Board is that
the dug outs should be matched with tin roof on the concession stand in color and material. Still waiting for the
Booster Club to finish the fence.
Recreation Report:
Dan Laabs has been hired for Rec Director.
Discussion and action was taken on the Aquatic Center Summer Flyer.
*Motion by Zuelsdorf, second by Goldsbury, to accept Aquatic Center Summer Flyer.
All voting AYE. Motion Carried.
Discussion and action was taken on the Concession Agreement.
*Motion by Marschke, second by Goldsbury, to accept Aquatic Center Concession Agreement.
All voting AYE. Motion Carried.
Discussion and action was taken on the fundraiser for the Discher Park Dance Pavilion done by the Phoenix Group.
$1.00 of each paid admission goes towards the Discher Park Pavilion Restoration Project. This will be done during the
“Jersey Street Festival” on June 15th.
*Motion by Zuelsdorf, second by Goldsbury, to accept Aquatic Center Fund Raiser for Dance Hall at Discher Park.
All voting AYE. Motion Carried.
Discussion and Action was taken on the 2013 Horicon Phoenix Program “Calendar of events” along with amplified music,
fireworks, at Riverbend Park for the Labor Day Weekend 8/31/13 & 9/1/13 and amplified music at Kiwanis Park for their
Summer Concert Series.
*Motion by Zuelsdorf, second by Goldsbury, to accept Horicon Phoenix Program’s “Calendar of Events”
All voting AYE. Motion Carried.
Discussion and Action on Men’s Softball Associations the use of the fields. Discussed who would maintain ball fields
this summer. Consensus reached that City would maintain fields for programs not associated with the Rec program or
school programs.
*Motion by Marschke, second by Zuelsdorf, to have the City responsible with the part-timers to add field prep to their
responsibilities at the Parks not associated with the Rec program or school programs.
All voting AYE. Motion Carried
Non-Action discussion:
Dave read a report that Horicon is now on the “Rock River National Water Trail”.
Next Meeting date set for May 8th at 6:00 pm (Wednesday) at the City Hall.
*Motion by Marschke, second by Zuelsdorf, to adjourn.
All voting AYE. Motion Carried.
The meeting adjourned at 7:25 pm.
